Dang Van Lam injured, left the field early before joining the Vietnam national team

In the second half of the match between Hai Phong FC and Quy Nhon Binh Dinh today, Dang Van Lam left the field with a limp. Before that, this player did not collide with anyone.

Goalkeeper Tran Dinh Minh Hoang was the replacement and helped Quy Nhon Binh Dinh keep a clean sheet, winning 1-0. After the match, Dang Van Lam was able to walk on his own but limped back to the tunnel. Quy Nhon Binh Dinh Club has not officially announced the extent of Van Lam's injury.

This is bad news for coach Philippe Troussier as the Vietnamese team prepares to gather and only has about 2 weeks to prepare for the matches at the 2023 Asian Cup.

In this training session, Mr. Troussier summoned three goalkeepers: Dang Van Lam, Nguyen Filip and Nguyen Dinh Trieu. Except for the period of injury when playing for Cerezo Osako, Van Lam has always maintained stable performance.

Nguyen Filip is expected to compete fiercely for the position of the team's number 1 goalkeeper. This player obtained Vietnamese nationality in early December and was on Mr. Troussier's registration list. Nguyen Filip possesses many strengths, especially his ability to play with his feet. That skill is suitable for the current philosophy of deploying attacks from the back of the Vietnamese team. Experience playing in Europe is also an advantage for Nguyen Filip compared to Dang Van Lam.

However, Mr. Troussier needs to verify the ability to integrate and connect with teammates of the former Sparta Prague goalkeeper.

The Vietnamese team will gather from December 31 at the VFF youth football training center. The team will leave for Qatar on January 5 before playing a friendly match against Kyrgyzstan on January 9. Five days later, coach Troussier and his team will play their opening match against the Japanese team.
