Prioritizing Vietnam-Laos relations

On the afternoon of May 29th, at the Government Headquarters, Comrade Pham Gia Tuc, Member of the Political Bureau and Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, received the Lao Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anouparb Vongnorkeo.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always values ​​and gives the highest priority to the special Vietnam-Laos relationship; emphasized that Vietnam will continue to accompany and support Laos in building an independent and self-reliant economy , developing human resources and a high-quality workforce; and proposed that both sides continue to promote connectivity between the two economies, especially in infrastructure, transportation, energy, trade and investment, for the practical benefit of the people of both countries.

Deputy Minister Anouparb Vongnorkeo sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, and people for their friendship, valuable support, and selfless assistance to Laos in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the current process of protecting, building, and developing the country; affirming that in the process of building an independent and self-reliant economy, Laos hopes to continue receiving close cooperation with Vietnam.

Both sides agreed to continue to coordinate closely and make the best preparations for upcoming high-level diplomatic activities, starting with the visit of Lao leaders to attend the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum; to coordinate the effective implementation of important bilateral cooperation mechanisms, strengthen exchanges of high-level and other delegations, and closely coordinate and support each other in regional and international forums; and agreed to continue to create breakthroughs in economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

★ On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc chaired a working session with the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association and the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the overarching principle is for the Government and ministries to stand alongside businesses, promptly resolving difficulties, obstacles, and reasonable requests from the two associations and businesses without delay...

Regarding future development directions, Comrade Pham Gia Tuc suggested that the two associations and their member enterprises develop development plans that are appropriate to the context of deep integration and the current international situation, aiming for double-digit growth, export growth, improving working conditions and the lives of workers, and contributing to the overall growth of localities and the country...
