During the visit and working program at Bach Long Vi island district ( Hai Phong city ) of the Central Youth Union delegation, the representative of Bach Long Vi Youth Volunteer Team said that Bach Long Vi Youth Island has changed a lot since its first establishment.
On May 24-25, within the framework of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, a working delegation of the Central Youth Union led by Mr. Ngo Van Cuong, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Youth Union Inspection Committee, visited and worked in Bach Long Vi island district. Also attending the working delegation were Mr. Le Thanh Tu, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Central Youth Union's Youth Volunteer Committee; Mr. Tran Huu, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Central Youth Union's Youth Workers and Urban Areas Committee.

The delegation visited and worked with the district leaders and the Bach Long Vi Youth Volunteer Team. At the meeting, Mr. Tran Van Hien, Team Leader of the Bach Long Vi Youth Volunteer Team, shared about the journey of building the island from the days when there was only sand, rocks and cacti, and no residents. "Since 1993, when the first 62 youth volunteers came to build the island, over the past 3 decades, Bach Long Vi Youth Island has changed a lot compared to the first day of its establishment. From the original Bach Long Vi Youth Volunteer Team, it has now been upgraded to the Bach Long Vi Youth Volunteer Team. Bach Long Vi Youth Volunteers have been growing up every day," said Mr. Hien.

According to Mr. Hien, with the investment of the State, the leadership and direction of the Hai Phong Youth Volunteers and the spirit of volunteering, cadres and members of the Bach Long Vi Youth Volunteers have participated in implementing 12 projects with a total investment of over 260 billion VND in Bach Long Vi. In which, mainly infrastructure construction projects, environmental protection and development projects. "Most of the projects to build Bach Long Vi Youth Island from 1993 to present have achieved practical results, gradually improving and enhancing the quality of life of soldiers and civilians on the island, quickly pushing back the existing difficulties of the early period of building the island district. The construction works are being managed, exploited and used with high efficiency, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of cadres and members of the Bach Long Vi Youth Volunteers", Mr. Hien affirmed.

Mr. Hien also said that over the past 30 years, the cadres and youth volunteers have been trained to have high qualifications to ensure improved efficiency and quality of work. "Since coming to the island to work, many generations of Bach Long Vi youth volunteers have grown up, 55 comrades have been recruited and transferred to the departments and branches of the district. The youth volunteer residential area has become a crowded residential area with 38 households, 45 children were born on the island, 100% of the youth volunteer households have decided to build a long-term life on the island and consider it their second homeland", Mr. Hien shared. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ngo Van Cuong expressed his joy that the island is developing day by day. From the early days of construction with the first 62 youth volunteers, the island now has many residents; the infrastructure is spacious and modern enough, not much different from the mainland.

Mr. Ngo Van Cuong hopes that the youth volunteer force will continue to promote its youth, develop economic models to build the island to develop more and more, contributing to protecting and maintaining the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
