2025 will be the first year of implementing the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program, with a focus on developing students' qualities and competencies.
According to Professor Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Quality Management Department (Ministry of Education and Training), candidates need to understand the knowledge and skills in the new high school curriculum with multiple textbooks, especially the ability to relate them to real-world situations. These could also be key, differentiating sections.
"During the learning and review process, if students find any content or knowledge that can be related to or applied to real life, they should prepare, reason, and create scenarios from real life and production situations…," Mr. Ha said.
According to Mr. Ha, the content of the high school graduation exam is mainly based on the 12th-grade curriculum, but may also include some knowledge from the 10th and 11th grades.
“The exam questions are within the curriculum, with a thinking level of 40% at the knowledge level, 30% at the understanding level, and 30% at the application level. In addition, the exam emphasizes the connection and application of knowledge and skills to real-world situations, especially with differentiated content to accurately assess students' abilities.”
