DNVN - At the international conference on integrative medicine, natural and traditional care therapies, and plant science held in Milan, Italy recently, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Van - Deputy General Director of Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company, on behalf of the Vietnamese research team of the project on herbal products for preventing and treating thrombosis, presented a report.
According to a VNA reporter in Italy, the Vietnamese delegation's report said that the project authors conducted five preclinical studies on experimental animals.
The results show that the product is not only safe, effective in preventing the formation and dissolving blood clots through many mechanisms, but also especially effective in treating myocardial infarction.
The research project also showed the role of traditional medicine and Vietnamese herbal products in solving difficult problems in medicine and was of interest to conference attendees.

The study originated from a product of Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company and was further studied on experimental animals as well as clinically at the Center for Clinical Pharmacology, Hanoi Medical University.
An international article on the effects of the new drug on preventing myocardial infarction in experimental animals was published in Science Direct in August 2023.
After more than 20 years of establishment and development, Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company has now obtained 14 exclusive patents. The most recent product is Sunkovir - a herbal medicine to treat COVID-19 and viruses transmitted through the respiratory tract, seasonal flu.

Sunkovir is a research project on drugs to treat seasonal flu, COVID-19 and viruses transmitted through the respiratory tract led by MSc., Pharmacist Nguyen Thi Huong Lien, Vice President of Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company. This is a herbal product that helps quickly reduce symptoms of cough, fever, shortness of breath, loss of smell, taste, nasal congestion, and body aches.
This is a breakthrough product, because for the first time, a herbal medicine has been proven safe and effective and licensed for the treatment of COVID-19. Three clinical studies of the product have been posted on the online library used by scientific researchers and students as a reference tool and more than 700 other international articles have been reported.
This research also made a splash at the Pharma R&D new drug research conference held in February this year in Boston, USA and won second prize in the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (Vifotech).
At the conference in Milan, participants heard more than 30 reports from authors from 19 countries and territories, including the UK, US, China, South Korea...
Speakers presented research from the laboratory to the application of medicinal herbs in medical care, and the application of digital technology in the research of plants, medicinal herbs and medicine.
This conference takes place in a context where more and more people, including scientists, businesses and citizens, are interested in and trust herbal products in world medicine.
