Modernizing facilities and digital transformation
Ms. Luc Thuy Hang, Principal of the school, said that entering a period of strong innovation, the school has implemented two strategic pillars: investing in modern facilities and promoting digital transformation, aiming to improve the quality of education for ethnic minority students, shortening the gap between the highlands and the lowlands.
In recent years, Viet Bac Mountainous High School has focused on renovating, repairing and upgrading many items; at the same time, building new classrooms, dormitories, dining halls, laboratories, sports areas and landscape and technical works. Teaching, learning and boarding equipment have been supplemented according to the standards of the National Target Program for the development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
“The school has a system of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology laboratories and an audio-visual room with new equipment, meeting the requirements of innovative teaching methods towards capacity development,” said Ms. Hang.
In addition, Viet Bac Mountainous High School is also one of the leading units in Thai Nguyen province in digital transformation of education. The school has built a digital ecosystem including: student database, electronic transcripts, boarding management software, human resource - financial management system and online teaching platform. Digitizing management processes helps increase connection between the school and parents, while improving transparency and shortening information processing time.
In addition, the school focuses on training teachers in digital pedagogy, designing electronic lessons and building a learning material bank suitable for the characteristics of ethnic minority students. These innovative activities are implemented throughout the school year plan, helping teachers adapt effectively to modern teaching models.
Thanks to the two pillars of infrastructure and digital transformation, Viet Bac High School for Ethnic Minorities has become a bright spot in the cluster of highland schools, where students are comprehensively supported in terms of study, skills and life.
Dedication to students, the key to making a difference
In the 2024-2025 school year, the school continues to affirm its position as the country's leader in training achievements for ethnic minority students with: 18 national excellent students; 2 Gold Medals in international scientific research; 344 provincial excellent student awards (8 First prizes); 2 topics won the Promising Award of the National Science and Technology Competition; 12 prizes and Second prize for the entire delegation of the National Defense - Security Competition of Thai Nguyen province; 4 prizes in the provincial STEAM and AI Application Competition, including 1 First prize.
In particular, in the last school year, the school continued to lead the country in the number of ethnic minority students admitted to the Party with 39 new Party members, clearly demonstrating the maturity in awareness, ideals and mettle of highland students.
Ethnic minority education has many characteristics, especially in terms of psychology, culture and basic skills. Understanding that, the Party Committee and the School Board always pay attention to taking care of the lives and living habits of students. The learning area, dormitory, dining hall, library and sports area are regularly renovated, creating a "green, clean, beautiful", safe and friendly environment.

The teaching staff is highly qualified, knowledgeable about the national culture and dedicated. The teachers organize tutoring in small groups, tutoring each student, especially in Math, Physics, Biology, Literature, etc. with 2 to 3 sessions per week for students with limitations. Many students who were self-conscious and insecure have gradually become confident, considering this school as their second family thanks to the dedicated care of the teachers.
Along with digital transformation, the school also promotes the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning.
According to Mr. Pham Trong Nguyen, Deputy Head of the Mathematics and Information Technology Group, AI has been integrated into the general information technology program in the past two years. Thai Nguyen is also the pioneering locality in implementing the "Popular AI Learning" program, helping students access modern technology right from high school.
Student Luu Quang Hai (class 11A6) created a robot that can move quickly and accurately, demonstrating programming ability and teamwork skills.
Hai said: “At first I was confused, but thanks to the guidance of teachers, support from the club and online self-study, I gradually fell in love with AI and Robotics. I hope the school will continue to invest in laboratories, robot kits and powerful computers so that students have more conditions to develop.”
Investing in facilities, improving living conditions, promoting digital transformation and applying AI not only helps highland students access modern education but also contributes significantly to building high-quality human resources for the future.
Ms. Luc Thuy Hang, Principal of the school, said: "The 2025-2026 school year has the theme 'Discipline, creativity, breakthrough, development'. Teachers and students of Viet Bac High School for Ethnic Minorities are determined to uphold tradition, continue to innovate teaching and management methods, and at the same time promote the cultural identity of ethnic groups."
