Vietnam's investment in Cambodia has changed dramatically.

Continuing his state visit to Cambodia, on the afternoon of July 13, President To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited the Metfone telecommunications company, a joint venture between the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group ( Viettel ) and a Cambodian partner invested in the Kingdom of Cambodia, according to VNA.

Speaking at the meeting, President To Lam highly appreciated the results that the joint venture company Metfone has achieved after more than 15 years of presence in the Cambodian market, affirming that this is a typical example of economic cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia; at the same time, affirming that besides the image of a dynamic enterprise, Metfone has entered the hearts of Cambodian people through social security activities in Cambodia.

President To Lam highly appreciated the company's policy of accompanying the Cambodian Government in implementing e-Government by popularizing telecommunications services, pioneering in supporting digital transformation in the Cambodian Government and ministries and sectors; and developing digital finance.

The President said that from an economic perspective, Vietnam and Cambodia are two adjacent markets, sharing a border, with convenient road, waterway and air transport systems.

The two countries also share the determination to integrate regionally and internationally. The current capacity of businesses on both sides is completely suitable and meets the requirements of penetrating, finding a foothold and developing market share in each country.

Up to now, it can be affirmed that Vietnam's investment activities in Cambodia have changed dramatically.

The President hopes that Metfone will continue to become a leading enterprise in the fields of telecommunications, technology, and digital transformation in Cambodia; actively support the Vietnamese business community in Cambodia to develop together, contribute to the socio-economic development of Cambodia and foster the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Acknowledging the company's proposals and recommendations, the President said that the Party and State always trust and create favorable conditions for Viettel and Metfone to successfully complete their investment and business goals and fulfill their social responsibilities to Cambodia.

The President also requested the Ministry of National Defense, relevant ministries, departments and sectors of the two countries, with their responsibilities and sentiments, to continue to pay attention to and support Metfone in promptly resolving difficulties and problems that arise so that Metfone can develop more and more strongly, contributing to the socio-economic development of Cambodia, helping to develop the good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia more and more effectively and substantially.

Previously, President To Lam attended the announcement ceremony of Vietnam Airlines' direct flight route from Hanoi to Phnom Penh. Accordingly, Vietnam's national airline will operate direct flights between Hanoi and Phnom Penh from October 27 with a frequency of four round-trip flights per week.

President To Lam also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Vietnam Airlines and Cambodia Angkor Air on enhancing and expanding bilateral cooperation, with the aim of providing aviation services of the highest standard on routes between Vietnam and Cambodia; and a memorandum of understanding between Vietnam Airlines, Saigon Tourist Group, Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA) and Cambodia Angkor Air on cooperation in promoting tourism and aviation "Two Countries - One Destination".
