Here's how to check in for a flight on VNeID

Accordingly, only passengers with checked baggage or those in special categories will be able to check in directly at the counter. All other passengers will have to complete the entire process, from buying tickets, checking in, going through security to boarding the plane, through the VNeID application or self-service kiosks at the airport.

Starting from September 15, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) in coordination with airlines such as Vietnam Airlines , Vietjet... will guide passengers to use Citizen Identification Card, Identity Card or VNeID electronic identification account to collect biometric data at check-in counters or via VNeID application. This data will be used to pass through security control and boarding gates, except in cases where passengers present other valid identification documents.

Thanks to the online check-in feature integrated into the VNeID application, passengers can perform the steps more quickly, conveniently and safely. After completing check-in on VNeID, passengers only need to authenticate their faces at the security gate and when boarding the plane, instead of presenting identification documents.

This authentication will not require hard copy identification documents, helping to limit loss. Citizens need level 2 electronic identification to perform.

Here's how to do the online procedure using VNeID:

Step 1: Log in to the VNeID application. Go to the main screen, select Other Services in the Service Group section.

Step 2: Select Air Services with the airplane image and enter the passcode.

The aviation feature is located under Other Services.

Step 3: Select “Check in online”, continue to click “Check in online” and select the airline you purchased the ticket from.

Associated airlines include Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet .

Step 4: After confirming agreement on regulations, purposes of sharing and processing data, passengers are redirected to the corresponding application of the selected airline to complete the online check-in process and identity verification (eKYC).

If the phone does not have the application installed or has not updated to the appropriate version, the system will redirect the user to the Apple Store (on iOS) or CH Play (on Android) to install or upgrade the version.

Users must agree to the above terms.

Step 5: After completing online procedures, passengers continue to perform biometrics at the airport security control gate and boarding gate.

In case of checking in but not yet verifying identity (eKYC), users can go to VNeID and go to step 4, then enter ticket information to add the eKYC step by taking a photo of their face.

In addition, when flying with a VNeID account, users should note:

- Log in to the application before checking in to avoid network problems or forgetting your password.

- Bring original personal documents in case of need.

- Check the validity period of the electronic citizen identification card on VNeID.

- If traveling with children, remember to bring birth certificates to complete the procedure.
