In 2023, under the close direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat, directly and regularly by the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers, economic diplomacy has made new developments in a more comprehensive, substantive and effective direction. In 60 high-level foreign affairs activities from the beginning of 2023 to present, economic content has become the focus, bringing specific, substantive results and many commitments and economic cooperation agreements with partners. Foreign relations continue to be expanded, the framework of relations with 30 strategic partners and comprehensive partners has been consolidated, upgraded and upgraded. Since the beginning of 2023, Vietnam has upgraded its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with 4 key partners, bringing the total number of Comprehensive Strategic Partners to 7 countries.

Ministries, branches and representative agencies have increased support for localities and enterprises to participate in foreign affairs activities, organized promotional activities at home and abroad, and connected with international partners, thereby supporting localities and enterprises to expand their markets, mobilize high-quality FDI investment, and attract new-generation ODA. International economic integration and linkages have been promoted extensively, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's international position, associated with attracting resources for economic development. Exchange and consultation activities with international partners, research institutes and scholars on economic and development issues and emerging issues of the world economy have been organized with practical content, serving the Government and localities in policy making and socio-economic management.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing the contents of improving the effectiveness of NGKT work, focusing on reviewing international agreements and commitments; identifying the contents, focuses and driving forces that need to be focused on promoting from raising the level and upgrading relations with major partners and strategic partners.
Delegates also discussed and contributed ideas on solutions to improve the effectiveness of NGKT work, focusing on urging, promoting, and reaching agreements with partners, especially in new fields such as semiconductors, high technology, innovation, green transformation, circular economy, digital economy, etc.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: In the current context, we need to develop quickly but sustainably; not sacrifice progress and social justice to pursue pure economic growth; develop harmoniously between politics, culture, economy, national defense - security, anti-corruption; harmonize the interests of the State, people and businesses.
The Prime Minister emphasized the “3 together”: Listening and understanding together; sharing vision, awareness and action together; working together, enjoying together, winning together and developing together. This is always true when implementing with businesses, partners and people.
In that spirit, the Prime Minister requested to continue reviewing and grasping the world and regional situation to consolidate existing markets, expand new markets, overcome shortages and what countries need; overcome disruptions in the global supply chain and production chain by improving and consolidating brands, product quality, green development, digital development; closely coordinate between domestic and foreign countries, coordinate between ministries, departments and branches, coordinate between the State and businesses and people in the spirit of harmonious benefits and shared risks.
