The 2.2 km long dike has been degraded for many years. In 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) included this area in a renovation and upgrading project invested by the Ministry. The project was funded by a loan from the Asian Development Bank, but due to many problems, the project has not yet been implemented.
Faced with that reality, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment and Hiep Hoa District to quickly coordinate with the investor, focusing on removing difficulties to soon implement the project. If necessary, it is possible to propose removing this dike section from the Ministry's project so that the province can proactively handle it with local funding, ensuring safety for the entire dike when the storm season is approaching.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also inspected the dike section in Da Hoi village, Hop Thinh commune (Hiep Hoa) and Cong Bun pumping station, Dong Son ward (Bac Giang city). During storm No. 3 last year, the dike section through Da Hoi village was broken, and was later repaired and reinforced by Hiep Hoa district. At Cong Bun pumping station, there was also an incident at the discharge tank, which has now been fixed, ensuring safe operating procedures.

Next, the delegation inspected the location where the landslide incident had just occurred on the riverbank and beach at K8+00 to K8+250 and K9+850 to K10+155 on the left dike of Thuong in the area of Tran Phu and Tho Xuong wards (Bac Giang city). Comrade Nguyen Viet Oanh commented that this was a dangerous incident, the landslides continued to develop, so early remedial measures were needed. Currently, in the above areas, many landslides appeared one after another, eating deep into the riverbank. Of which, the most dangerous landslide was at K8+220, 11 m downstream from Phu Lang Thuong Hydrological Station. The landslide was 42 m long, eating about 10 m deep into the riverbank, the depth from the top of the landslide to the water surface was 2.5 m, the top of the landslide was closest to the foot of the river dike 11.7 m.
To ensure the safety of dykes and irrigation works during the rainy and stormy season, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed relevant departments, branches and localities to urgently deploy solutions to overcome and handle incidents to ensure safety and effectiveness. Maintain regular disaster prevention and control duty; strengthen inspection and supervision work, promptly detect incidents and report to the Provincial Command Center for Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue according to regulations to proactively handle them.
