On May 22, the Ha Long Bay Management Board informed about the temporary suspension of the contract on anchoring and operating at ports, wharves, and waters in Ha Long Bay for the tourist ships Thinh An 88, QN-8618.
According to the management board, the Thinh An 88 tourist ship violated item 10 - appendix of violations and handling measures if violating the contract of anchoring and operating at ports, wharves, areas and waters in Ha Long Bay (including Bai Tu Long Bay).
This appendix is attached to contract No. 98/2025/VHL signed between Ha Long Bay Management Board and Bui Van Thuy business household (Thinh An ship).
During the inspection, Ha Long Bay Management Board discovered that Thinh An 88 ship allowed passengers to freely use disposable plastic products.
The Bay Management Board has temporarily suspended the implementation of the contract on anchoring and operating at ports, wharves, and waters in Ha Long Bay (including Bai Tu Long Bay) for the tourist ships Thinh An 88, QN-8618 for 7 days (from May 24 to May 30, 2025).
This is not the first time the Bay Management Board has dealt with violations of allowing tourists and crew members to use disposable plastics in the bay.
Handling the above violations is considered a strong measure implemented by the Ha Long Bay Management Board since September 2019, with the desire to clean up Ha Long Bay.
The program is implemented with the message "do not use disposable plastic products in service and tourism activities in Ha Long Bay".
Organizations and individuals operating tourism and service activities on the bay must commit to not using or selling single-use plastic products (cups, straws, boxes, bowls, plates, plastic bags, etc.).
Along with that, tourism businesses replace disposable plastic with environmentally friendly products when participating in tourism activities and services in the world natural heritage area of Ha Long Bay; refuse to transport customers who intentionally do not comply with this regulation...
After 5 years of implementation, more than 270 tourism and aquaculture businesses have signed a commitment not to use disposable plastic products in tourism services on Ha Long Bay.
