In 2025, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam is 1,165,289; an increase of 93,894 compared to last year.

Of which, the number of candidates taking the exam under the 2018 GeneralEducation Program is 1,138,579, accounting for 97.71% of the total number of candidates registered for the exam. The number of candidates taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program is 26,711, accounting for 2.29% of the total number of candidates registered for the exam.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27. On June 25, candidates will complete exam registration procedures.

From 2025, candidates studying the 2018 General Education Program taking the high school graduation exam will take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 elective subjects (among the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 including: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology.

Candidates will take 3 exams: 1 Literature exam, 1 Math exam, 1 exam of 2 optional subjects. The Literature exam will be an essay exam, lasting 120 minutes. The exam will consist of 2 parts: Reading comprehension (4 points) and Writing (6 points). The remaining subjects will be multiple choice, in which the Math exam will take 90 minutes, the remaining subjects will take 50 minutes.

Candidates taking the 2006 General Education Program will take 3 exams: 1 Literature session, 1 Math session, 1 optional Natural Science or Social Science exam session, and 1 Foreign Language session.
