In 2025, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam is 1,165,289; an increase of 93,894 registrations compared to last year (in 2024, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam is 1,071,395).

Of which, the number of candidates taking the exam under the 2018 GeneralEducation Program is 1,138,579, accounting for 97.71% of the total number of candidates registered for the exam. The number of candidates taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program is 26,711, accounting for 2.29% of the total number of candidates registered for the exam.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27; on June 25, candidates will complete exam registration procedures.

From 2025, candidates studying the 2018 General Education Program taking the high school graduation exam will only take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 optional subjects (among the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 including: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology.

Specifically, these candidates will take part in 3 exams, including 1 exam for Literature, 1 exam for Math and 1 exam for an optional test of 2 subjects. The Literature exam will be in essay format, lasting 120 minutes. The exam consists of 2 parts: Reading Comprehension (4 points) and Writing (6 points). The remaining subjects will be multiple choice, in which the Math exam will take 90 minutes, the remaining subjects will take 50 minutes.

Candidates taking the 2006 General Education Program will participate in 4 exam sessions, including 1 Literature exam session, 1 Math exam session, 1 optional Natural Science or Social Science exam session, and 1 Foreign Language exam session.
