The Ministry of Planning and Investment has just sent an official dispatch to the Ministries of National Defense; Public Security; Finance; Transport; Science and Technology; Natural Resources and Environment; Culture, Sports and Tourism; and the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to seek opinions on the Dat Do airport construction project. The airport is located about 8.5km east of Dat Do district center.
The project is expected to be implemented in Loc An and Lang Dai communes, Dat Do district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. The total expected investment capital is 3,305.9 billion VND. The land use area is nearly 214.4 hectares. The operation period is 70 years. The form of investor selection is bidding to select investors according to the provisions of the law on bidding.

Regarding the scale of the project, Dat Do airport ensures the exploitation of A320, A321 aircraft and equivalent with synchronously built technical infrastructure works.
The airport facilities include runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking lots, ensuring at least 4 parking positions for fixed-wing aircraft, with reserves for expanding the parking lots when needed. The airport is classified as 4C (according to ICAO) and a level II military airport. Navigational class: CAT I.
Dat Do Airport is determined to have the main function and task of being a specialized airport, serving general aviation operations and transporting passengers, luggage, goods, and postal items (not public transport).

Currently, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, there are 2 main airports: Con Dao airport in Con Dao district, which functions as a domestic airport, serving as a bridge to transport passengers and goods between the mainland and Con Dao.
On land there is Vung Tau heliport. The main task of this airport is to operate helicopters for oil and gas exploration, tourism services and military missions.
The airport construction project covers an area of about 200 hectares, under the BOT investment form, with an operating period of 50 years, in Loc An commune, Dat Do district. The total proposed investment capital is about 4,250 billion VND.
Information from the pre-feasibility study report explanatory note shows that the unit that prepared the investment project proposal is Ho Tram Project Company Limited.
Ho Tram Project Company Limited was established in 2008 with the main business lines being lottery, betting and gambling. This enterprise is a 100% owned subsidiary of ACDL (Asian Coast Development Ltd) - established in Canada.
Ho Tram Project Company Limited was granted an investment certificate by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to implement the Ho Tram Resort and Entertainment Complex project (Ho Tram Strip) with an area of 164 hectares in Xuyen Moc district with a total registered capital of 4.23 billion USD, including casino business.
