Come to Hue to experience Grab cyclo service

(Chinhphu.vn) - The Grab cyclo service is one of the meaningful cooperation activities to promote digital transformation in the tourism sector, taking advantage of technological strengths to promote Hue's heritage, culture and cuisine.

With Grab cyclo, for the first time, traditional cyclo drivers will be introduced to a digital platform to serve both tourists and locals.

On August 15, within the framework of a 3-year cooperation agreement with Hue City, Grab Vietnam officially tested the Grab cyclo service in the city in coordination with the Department of Construction, Department of Tourism , Hue City Development Research Institute and Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

The project aims to promote digital transformation in the fields of transportation and tourism, while supporting local people to improve their digital skills.

Grab cyclo is a typical cyclo service of Hue , with vehicles decorated according to its own brand identity and service quality guaranteed to be consistent with other transportation services that Grab is providing. With this service, passengers can book a cyclo to visit historical sites in Hue safely and conveniently. The service will be provided by experienced drivers who have undergone Grab's mandatory training programs to serve passengers.

Cultural preservation goes hand in hand with digital transformation

With Grab cyclo, for the first time, traditional cyclo drivers will be introduced to a digital platform to serve both tourists and locals. Not only that, drivers can also participate in a digital skills enhancement program, keeping up with technology and AI from the Grab platform.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Committee Member of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, said: Hue City always encourages initiatives that both preserve cultural values and promote digital transformation, improving the quality of tourism services. Grab cyclo is not only a familiar means of transportation, associated with the memories and images of Hue, but now it is also "dressed" with technological elements, helping tourists easily book services and pay conveniently. At the same time, this service also creates new livelihood opportunities for cyclo drivers in the direction of digitalization, in line with the development trend of the times.

"Today's launch is the result of close coordination between Grab, local authorities, departments, branches and related units. Grab cyclo not only meets the needs of tourists, but also spreads the message of a friendly, safe, convenient and sustainable Hue - in line with the city's vision and development orientation," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh.

A tour by cyclo is therefore the most suitable way to feel that unique beauty. This is the motivation for us to realize the Grab cyclo idea. Currently, Hue is the only locality where Grab operates this service, with the desire to bring a 'tailor-made' product to the market, while creating livelihood opportunities in the direction of digital transformation for local workers.

Grab Vietnam officially tested the Grab cyclo service in the city with the coordination of the Department of Construction, Department of Tourism, Hue City Development Research Institute and Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

How to take a Grab cyclo?

During the trial period, the Grab cyclo service will carry a maximum of 1 passenger with an initial route of no more than 60 minutes and can be extended depending on the passenger's request. Passengers can book a Grab cyclo on the Grab app and will be picked up/dropped off at 5 locations, including:

4 locations in the Imperial Citadel area: Area opposite Hien Nhon Gate, area near Doan Thi Diem Parking Lot, Nam Xuong Eo Bau Parking Lot area, Nam Thang Eo Bau Parking Lot area and Toa Kham Boat Wharf Area.

After the trial period, Grab Vietnam will continue to coordinate with local authorities to research and expand the pick-up/drop-off points of the Grab cyclo service to provide more choices for passengers, ensuring a convenient experience for sightseeing and exploration trips.

To optimize the experience for tourists, along with the launch of Grab cyclo, Grab also introduced the Hue Travel promotion package to help users enjoy transportation services, eat and drink, and shop for Hue specialties more easily and economically during their time visiting the city.

Previously, in February 2025, Hue City and Grab Vietnam signed a three-year cooperation agreement to promote digital transformation in the fields of transportation and tourism, while supporting businesses, small traders and people to improve their digital skills.

Immediately after that, in April 2025, Grab cooperated with the Hue City Department of Tourism to award the "Famous Restaurants of Hue" award to 26 local eateries and restaurants with the aim of honoring, preserving and developing the culinary values of the ancient capital. In July 2025, Grab cooperated with the Hue City Institute for Research and Development and the Vietnam Women's Union in Hue to launch the "Grab Sisters" initiative to provide more flexible and suitable income opportunities for the female workforce in Hue.

Following the launch of the Grab cyclo service, Grab will strengthen coordination with local authorities to implement other practical projects aimed at improving the quality of life for local people, actively contributing to the socio-economic growth goals of Hue City.
