Prenn Pass officially reopens to traffic after landslide incident

On the morning of November 25, after inspecting the landslide repair work on Prenn Pass, Comrade Nguyen Hong Hai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, directed the Department of Construction to organize traffic diversion and clearance on the entire Prenn Pass starting at 1:00 p.m. on November 25.

Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai and the working delegation inspected the field at Prenn Pass on the morning of November 25.

Accordingly, all vehicles (except trucks) will be allowed to travel in both directions along the entire route. Speed ​​limits will be applied on sections under repair or restoration.

The landslide section has been reinforced with Larsen sheet piles to reinforce the negative slope.

Due to the impact of storms and rain, Prenn Pass was identified to have 6 locations where the road surface had sunk and cracked with a total length of about 300m, and the crack width was from 1cm - 10cm.

Of which, about 40m of the road has collapsed, the embankment blocking the negative slope has collapsed, half of the 7.5m wide roadbed has collapsed, the damage at this location shows signs of continuing to develop and there is a risk of landslide causing a road break.

The landslide section has been basically reinforced, temporarily allowing two lanes of traffic.

The Department of Construction has coordinated with the Investment Project Management Board No. 1 (investor), Deo Ca Construction Joint Stock Company (construction unit) to deploy Larsen pile driving to reinforce the negative slope. Up to now, the landslide has basically stabilized the roadbed.

Lam Dong Province has decided to temporarily reopen the road after implementing the first phase of reinforcement on the landslide section. Project Management Board 1 and the construction unit continue to organize the second phase at the damaged locations to repair and thoroughly overcome.
