This morning (June 5), more than 76,000 students in Ho Chi Minh City completed procedures to take the 10th grade exam for the 2025-2026 school year.

Not because of stress or anxiety, but because in the entire exam room of 24 candidates, there were only two female candidates, me and a female student from another school, the rest of the exam room were all male students.

The female student said she was quite surprised to be in an exam room full of boys. There were too few girls in the room so she didn’t feel comfortable, so she just sat still, finished the paperwork and left without talking to her friends.

“It’s not strange, but being in an all-male exam room, I feel a little special. Luckily, the two invigilators are female, otherwise I would look so lonely. Now that there are so many boys, I will have plenty of time to choose a lover,” the 15-year-old girl joked.

The same situation was also seen in examination room number 7 of this examination board. The entire examination room consisted of 24 candidates, most of them were male students, with only 2 female students sitting in the corner of the examination room.

Trinh Ngoc Quynh Huong, one of the two female students in this exam room, said that she and her female classmate study at the same school.

During semester exams at school, when the classes were shuffled, I shared a room with a girl who had been in the same room for many years, and the room was filled with only boys.

However, Huong was quite surprised when in the 10th grade exam, coincidentally, only she and the other friend were female, the rest were all male. Meanwhile, this exam had students from many schools participating.

“Our names start with H., Hoang, Hung, Hung, Huy, so we rarely get to sit with other girls in the competition. It’s just a coincidence, but I think it’s interesting,” Huong said.

Huong also said that she was not too stressed about this year's exam but still felt a bit anxious.

The student focused on listening carefully to the invigilator explaining the exam regulations such as exam time to avoid being late, items allowed in the room, exam attire, exam time, avoiding situations that could result in missing the exam or being suspended from the exam...

At this examination council, there were students from schools such as Phuoc Binh Secondary School, Phu Huu Secondary School, and Ngo Thoi Nhiem Secondary School taking the exam. It was noted that at this examination council, many candidates were absent on the day of exam procedures.

Today, on the day of the 10th grade exam procedures in Ho Chi Minh City, the invigilators thoroughly explained the exam regulations such as not bringing phones into the exam room; information that all cases arriving at the exam site gate later than 15 minutes after the test time signal will not be allowed to take the exam; note personal documents; 2/3 of the test time can only be left in the exam room...

Tomorrow (June 6), students will begin their first exam, literature, with a 120-minute test duration. The test bags will be opened at 7:30 and the test will officially begin at 8:00.

On the afternoon of June 6, students will take a 90-minute foreign language exam and a math exam on the morning of June 7.

The 2025 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City has 76,435 candidates registered. Meanwhile, the total target is 70,070 students, the admission rate is about 92%. This year, only more than 6,000 candidates failed to pass the public school entrance exam, a record low number in Ho Chi Minh City in many years.
