The biggest change in this year's literature exam is that the language used in the exam is not taken from any textbooks among the series approved by the Ministry of Education and Training for use in schools.
Therefore, candidates entered this exam with quite a nervous mood. In Hanoi, before the 10th grade entrance exam, teachers affirmed that students were "prepared" for the fact that there would be no familiar language materials, and that they would have to study textbooks over and over again, so there would be no more "hitting the jackpot" in the direction of guessing which literary works would be on the exam.

From grade 6, teachers and students have been thoroughly informed about this. Instead of teaching knowledge based on a specific work in textbooks as before, teachers equip students with the skills to read and understand texts, identify genres, understand the content, themes, and messages of the text, etc.
The literature exam was assessed by candidates as closely following the structure and format of the sample exam published by the Department of Education and Training to serve as a reference for review. Candidates at each testing site had different opinions about the difficulty of the exam. At the Hanoi - Amsterdam High School exam site, many students predicted that they would get 7-8 points.
A major change in the way the 10th grade entrance exam scores are calculated this year is that along with math, literature will not be calculated with a coefficient of 2 as in many years past, but only a coefficient of 1 for all 3 subjects: literature, math, and foreign language. This is considered to ensure fairness for all subjects and exams in the generaleducation program.
This afternoon, candidates will take the foreign language test with a duration of 60 minutes, multiple choice test format.
