Speaking about tourism slogans, Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of the province, analyzed: A slogan is understood as a short sentence containing a message describing the nature of a product/service, or conveying the values ​​that the brand wants to bring to customers, meaning to encourage and motivate customers, or expressing a promise or direction of development of the business. Slogans in tourism promotion. This helps people easily identify the brand of tourist areas, attractions, and products, allowing tourists to visualize or feel the core essence that the tourism product will offer. Each destination and each tourism product in Son La needs a representative slogan to create the most meaningful message, contributing to promoting the image of local tourism.

Recognizing the importance of slogans in tourism promotion, in 2021, Moc Chau district organized a competition titled "Creating a Slogan and Symbol for Moc Chau Tourism," attracting 58 participants from provinces and cities nationwide, submitting 107 entries. The Organizing Committee conducted three rounds of judging, evaluating the quality of each entry based on content, symbolism, creativity, aesthetics, and recognizability. Ultimately, two entries, "Moc Chau Tourism - The Charm of the Green Plateau" and "Moc Chau - The Quintessence of the Northwest," were selected for public voting.

Ms. Dinh Thi Huong, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Moc Chau District, said: Currently, Moc Chau is widely using the logo and slogan "Moc Chau - The Quintessence of the Northwest" to promote tourism in the district. The logo is used more frequently because it is highly appreciated for its stylized design, beautiful layout, artistic colors and lettering, conveying the meaning that Moc Chau is a place where the essence of the Northwest converges. In addition, some destinations in Moc Chau also use the phrase "Moc Chau, a world-leading natural destination" to introduce and express pride in this region.

Previously, in 2020, the mountainous district of Bac Yen also launched a tourism logo and slogan design competition to build a tourism image associated with the land and people of Bac Yen. Mr. Bui Ngoc Thang, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Bac Yen district, said: The judging process was based on criteria set by the Organizing Committee, while also taking into account the opinions of agencies, units, localities, and people in the district. The winning entry, "Bac Yen, experiencing the sea of ​​clouds," is still being used by the district as the official logo in information dissemination, promotion, and advertising activities about Bac Yen's tourism potential.

Typically, slogans accompany logos to create a vivid and engaging visual image, along with concise and meaningful text to impress viewers. Competitions seeking creative ideas on this topic always include both logo and slogan design. With the aim of building and perfecting an impressive, attractive, and professional brand identity for Son La tourism, serving the province's tourism promotion and marketing efforts, the 2021 Son La tourism logo and slogan design competition attracted a large number of participants from across the country. 125 logo designs and 104 slogans were submitted, all featuring unique and creative artistic ideas that showcased the distinctive characteristics of Son La province. The logo design by An Binh Giang from Can Tho city won first prize and is now widely used to promote Son La tourism.

The Son La tourism logo is currently in widespread use.

Speaking about the importance and direction of "finding" a slogan, logo, and story for Son La tourism, Mr. Tran Xuan Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: To effectively promote and enhance the value of tourism products, it is necessary to have solutions to create vitality, or in other words, "breathe life" into tourism products, starting with attractive cultural stories. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the encouragement of research, collection, and creation of stories, slogans, and tourism symbols. This should focus on competitions to learn about historical and cultural relics, scenic spots, and tourist destinations, or competitions for tour guides; and to mobilize the attention and participation of agencies, units, government organizations, and local people to form and build a unique and attractive tourism image for visitors.

Son La tourism still needs more creative ideas for logo and slogan designs that fully convey the meaning, especially creating a distinctive image of the land and people of this region. In particular, a truly impressive slogan is needed to contribute to creating a unique identity and further affirm the brand of Son La tourism, leading to the sustainable development of the province's tourism.
