Information technology still holds the top position
The Computer Science (IT1) major of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is still at the top of the list this year, with a benchmark score of 29.42, or an average of 9.8 points/subject. In 2022, the IT1 major will not be available for candidates to be admitted based on graduation exam results, but will only prioritize candidates based on talent and thinking assessment results. However, in order to create conditions for candidates with excellent academic performance, but in remote areas, who do not have the conditions to take the thinking assessment exam, this year Hanoi University of Science and Technology has reserved a quota for admission based on graduation exam results. Therefore, the benchmark score has been pushed up to a very high level, up to 29.32/30 points for IT1.
Information technology still holds the top position
The admission score was almost absolutely high, so a rare event happened, that is, two out of three top candidates of group A00 (Math - Physics - Chemistry) failed their first choice of IT1 major at the University of Science and Technology. Those candidates were Nguyen Manh Thang (former student of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted) and Nguyen Manh Hung (former student of Trung Vuong High School, Hung Yen) who were top candidates of group A00, both achieved a total high school graduation exam score of 29.35. Both registered for NV1 in IT1 of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and with the extremely high standard score this year for this major, the two top candidates of A00 only passed NV2 in Computer Engineering (IT2) at the same Hanoi University of Science and Technology, with a standard score of 28.29 points for this major.
Along with information technology becoming increasingly hot due to the 4.0 industrial revolution, this year the History Pedagogy major also has a very high admission score. The benchmark score of this major at Hanoi National University of Education is 28/30 points, lower than in 2022, but still in the top of the majors with high benchmark scores, averaging more than 9.3 points/subject. The reason is that this year the University only has 68 targets for this major, enrolling students according to 5 methods, of which 16 students who won national excellent student awards registered according to the early admission method.
With the same benchmark score of 28 points, the History Pedagogy major of the University of Education, Thai Nguyen University, also holds the top position in the ranking of the University's majors.
Some majors in the top hot majors in 2022 have shown signs of cooling down, such as the Multimedia Communication major (group C15) of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, which dropped from 29.25 points in 2022 to 28.68 points in 2023. Last year, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities (under Vietnam National University, Hanoi) had three majors with near-perfect admission scores: Oriental Studies, Korean Studies, and Public Relations with a benchmark score of 29.95. This year, Public Relations still holds the top spot, but the benchmark score is 28.78 (group C00). Thus, this year, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities has no major exceeding the 29-point threshold.
The organization of registration for admission has many new points.
It can be said that this year, the organization of university admission registration has some new points based on the advantages and difficulties learned from 2022.
First of all, it is the implementation of the digital transformation policy. 2023 is the year that the Ministry of Education and Training integrates into the enrollment support system data sources for admission from high school exam results to high school learning results, transcripts, capacity assessment test data, thinking assessment of universities, 2 National Universities, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Education, gifted schools... creating favorable conditions for candidates to apply to universities.

This year's registration organization has many new points, creating conditions for candidates to register.
Next is the confirmation of exam results, priority conditions, and priority subjects this year, also based on data connected to the National Population Data of the Ministry of Public Security. Candidates this year do not have to ask for confirmation from localities, but can view it directly there and localities will also approve priority areas and priority subjects there.
The third and most important new point is that this year, candidates do not have to choose an admission method. Last year, this point had some difficulties because students were confused when choosing a major when the school offered many different admission methods or many admission combinations. This year, the Ministry of Education and Training also coordinated with the Government Office and payment channels, banks to review the system, prepare the infrastructure to connect and pay online university admission registration fees (through the National Public Service Portal with 17 main online payment channels nationwide). To ensure safety, convenience, and avoid overload during the process of candidates making online payments, the Ministry of Education and Training divided the online payment schedule on the admission registration support system according to the provinces/cities (where candidates have submitted their applications) into 6 clusters.
In particular, thanks to optimizing the data used for candidate selection when only needing to register by training major, the rate of successful candidates has increased significantly across the entire system, which is good news for both candidates and training institutions.
Initial results show that the admission scores of schools, on average, are quite similar to the results in 2022. Most schools recorded positive results in the number of candidates admitted with the standard scores that the schools had determined, based on training targets and data on the wishes of candidates registering for admission.
