Since 2023, Apple has upgraded Vietnam from a tier 3 market to a tier 2 market, giving it priority in terms of product launch time and supply. Currently, in Southeast Asia, Vietnam is only behind Singapore and Thailand – two tier 1 markets.

Last year, the genuine iPhone 16 series was available in Vietnam just about a week after the "tier 1" markets. If the iPhone 17 is really launched at the same time, Vietnamese users will be able to own the product on the same day as major markets such as the US, Singapore or Thailand.

This move is not only good news for domestic consumers, helping them access new products sooner, but is also expected to have a significant impact on the hand-carried iPhone market, which depends on the difference in sales opening time.

iOS 26 revealed with "Digital Glass" design

Apple's iOS 26 operating system is expected to bring a design revolution with a completely new "Digital Glass" style, inspired by the VisionOS platform. The interface of iOS 26 promises to become more vibrant with many colors and transparent effects.

According to Bloomberg , Apple has delayed the introduction of new versions of the Calendar and Health apps due to the need for more development time. These apps are expected to integrate deeper artificial intelligence (AI) features to optimize the personal experience, but are expected to appear only on iOS 27.

WhatsApp stops supporting hundreds of millions of older smartphones

Popular messaging app WhatsApp has implemented a new policy that only supports iPhone devices running iOS 15.1 or later and Android phones running Android 5.0 or later. The decision means that hundreds of millions of older phones released before 2014 will no longer be able to use Meta's app.

Among the affected devices are the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy S III, Sony Xperia Z and many other smartphone models. Meta's original plan was to end support on May 5, but it has been extended to early June to give users more time to prepare, upgrade their devices or back up their data.

Meta representatives said the decision was made for security and performance reasons. According to Meta, older devices no longer receive necessary security updates and lack the hardware and software features to run the app optimally.

Many old iPhones can't use the YouTube app

YouTube has just updated its iOS app to version 20.22.1, requiring devices running iOS 16 or later to install and use. This change means that a number of older iPhone and iPad models will no longer be directly compatible with the YouTube app.

According to MacRumors , the affected iPhone models include the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and the first-generation iPhone SE. Although the dedicated app cannot be used, users of the affected devices can still access and watch YouTube videos via the web browser.

However, this experience is warned to be significantly cut down on features and performance compared to using the native app, causing inconvenience to users.

Warning about the risk of fraud from the "fever" of AI creating videos Veo 3

Veo 3, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that generates videos from text descriptions introduced by Google in late May, is creating a global "fever". However, Vietnam is still not on the list of officially supported countries, creating conditions for fraudulent behavior.

Taking advantage of the attraction of the Veo 3 application, many subjects have committed fraud and property appropriation.

Many people have taken advantage of this shortage to launch attractive offers, such as selling cheap Veo 3 accounts for only a few tens to a few hundred thousand VND per month, with a commitment to "use freely". The scammers often ask users to transfer money first, then immediately disappear.

Others even sell Veo 3 registration services using customers' own Gmail accounts at low prices.

However, these accounts are often created by exploiting loopholes in Google's policies to circumvent the law and register Veo 3 in unsupported regions. This is a violation of Google's terms of use and carries the risk of permanently locking the user's account at any time.

Establishing the Data and Artificial Intelligence Alliance

On June 2, Vietnam Economic Magazine (VnEconomy) introduced the Marcom-AI platform and announced the establishment of the Data and Artificial Intelligence Alliance.

Marcom-AI is a system consisting of a content management platform (CMS) and AI tools to support communication. The system integrates AI technology into the content production, management and distribution process, including summarization, translation, text-to-speech and voice generation tools.

Along with the launch of this platform, VnEconomy established the Data and Artificial Intelligence Alliance to promote cooperation in applying digital technology to communication and economic activities. The event is part of the digital transformation strategy of the organizing unit.
