Condolences from the Government of Japan on the damage caused by storms and floods in Vietnam

On September 12, information from the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam said that regarding the damage caused by storm No. 3 (international name Yagi) in the northern localities recently, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio sent a telegram of condolences to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh .

In his message of condolences, the Japanese Prime Minister expressed his sorrow at the news that storm No. 3, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds, had made landfall in Vietnam, killing many people and causing heavy damage to the localities where the storm passed.

On behalf of the Government and people of Japan, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his deep condolences to the victims who died in the typhoon and their families, and sent his most sincere condolences to the people affected by the typhoon.

“As a close friend of the Vietnamese people, from the bottom of my heart, I hope that the localities in Vietnam affected by the storm will soon overcome difficulties, restore production, and return people's lives to normal. The Japanese Government always stands side by side with Vietnam and is ready to support Vietnam's necessary needs to the best of its ability,” Mr. Kishida emphasized.

On September 11, Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko also sent a message of condolences to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

In her telegram, Ms. Kamikawa expressed her sincere condolences to the victims who died in the storm, and sent her deepest condolences to the victims' families, hoping that those injured by the storm would recover soon, the missing would be rescued promptly, and the localities damaged by the storm would soon overcome difficulties, restore production, and people's lives would soon return to normal.

The Japanese Foreign Minister also affirmed: "The Japanese Government always stands with Vietnam, regardless of any necessary cooperation and support for Vietnam."

On the same day, the Japanese Government officially announced emergency aid to overcome the consequences of storms and floods in Vietnam.

The Japanese Government's announcement said that in response to the Vietnamese Government's call, the Japanese Government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has decided to provide emergency relief supplies including water filtration equipment and multi-functional plastic sheets to overcome the damage caused by the storm in Vietnam.

The announcement also stated that, based on the humanitarian spirit and friendly relations between the two countries, the Japanese Government has decided to deliver emergency aid to help people in the affected areas overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
