Chris Gauthier - who played William Smee in the fairy tale-inspired series "Once Upon a Time" - has died after a brief illness.
On February 26, on The Hollywood Reporter , Chris Gauthier's manager - Elena Kirschner - said the actor passed away "suddenly after a short illness" three days ago.

On social media, many Hollywood artists and producers expressed their condolences to Gauthier's family. TriStar Appearances' manager Chad Colvin wrote: "When his wife contacted me to tell me the news, I cried for hours because I couldn't believe it. Whether he was the main character or a guest, he always gave his all when filming."
Gauthier's friend Corrine Wright said stars like Anthony Hopkins, Robin Williams and a host of others "spoke highly of the actor." On Instagram , Gauthier's Once Upon a Time co-star Colin O'Donoghue said: "Rest in peace Chris! Heartbroken! I will always miss you my brother."

Chris Gauthier was born on January 27, 1976 in Bedfordshire, England and lives in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada). The actor began his career with a small role in the romantic comedy 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), which Josh Hartnett played the lead role. His big break came in 2004 with the villainous role of The Toyman in Smallville (2001-2017). He then played a supporting role in the series Eureka (2006-2012).
The artist made a big impression when playing Smee in the series Once Upon a Time (2011-2018), first appearing in episode 4 of the second season. The role is based on the character Mr. Smee in the play Peter Pan and the Disney film of the same name.
Gauthier married in 2003 and has two sons, Ben and Sebastian.
