On the evening of October 28, Dr. Le Vu Bao, Department of General Surgery of a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, said that he and his colleagues had recently performed successful Achilles tendon surgery on Truong Minh Cuong, an actor who participated in the film "Flip Side 7: A Wish" directed by Ly Hai.
According to his medical history, Truong Minh Cuong said that about 5 days before being hospitalized, while trying to save a shot at the end of the court while playing pickleball, he suddenly felt like he could no longer lift his legs and collapsed.
Upon admission, Dr. Le Vu Bao conducted an examination, tests, and MRI scan. The results showed that the male patient had a completely torn Achilles tendon - a common injury in athletes with high intensity movements - requiring tendon surgery.

"During the surgery, we discovered that the patient's Achilles tendon was torn at about 6cm, the most vulnerable area due to vigorous movement. The team cut, cleaned the tendon area and performed suturing. After suturing, the tendon connected well and the ankle flexed and extended normally.
To protect the stitches, we fixed the leg in a slightly flexed position, extended the ankle and applied a reinforcing splint. The surgery went smoothly and the patient recovered well,” said Dr. Bao.
After 3 days of treatment, the actor's condition has improved positively. On his personal page, Truong Minh Cuong said he has now been discharged from the hospital in good health.
However, according to doctors, after surgery, patients need to be patient in practicing and recovering. The physical therapy process usually lasts about 6 months, before patients can move and play sports again.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, an orthopedic specialist, said there have been cases where patients played pickleball too hard because they were happy and wanted the ball, and at the same time played with incorrect technique because there was no coach to support them, leading to serious injuries.
Doctors recommend that, no matter what sport, players need to learn the right techniques and warm up thoroughly. In particular, do not think that pickleball is a gentle sport and try to save the ball or exert yourself, which can lead to unfortunate incidents.
Before the above case, there were many patients who had serious accidents while playing pickleball. In April, a 30-year-old actress was hospitalized with a broken leg in the middle of a pickleball court in Ho Chi Minh City.
Through examination and imaging at the Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, doctors recorded that the patient had a fracture of the middle third of the left femur, requiring emergency surgery. The surgery was considered quite difficult, because the patient was 1.78m tall, with a fracture line running down the left femur.
After careful consideration and preparation, the doctors successfully performed the surgery on the patient.
