
Specifically, from 3:00 p.m. on October 28 to 3:00 p.m. on October 29, the dysentery epidemic situation in Muong Nhe area, including Nam Ke and Muong Nhe communes, was well controlled. The outbreak in Nam Ke commune did not record any new cases during the day; in Co Lot village, Muong Nhe commune, 1 case of community infection was detected but there were no epidemiological factors related to the Nam Ke outbreak.
Thus, at the end of October 29, the number of cases of bacillary dysentery in Dien Bien province was 163; of which 149 cases were in the epidemic area of Nam Ke commune; 14 cases were outside the epidemic area of Nam Ke commune.
Cumulative number of cured cases: 134; number of cases being monitored and treated: 28 (20 cases in Nam Ke commune, 8 cases at Muong Nhe Hospital); all cases being treated are stable.
With the current disease situation, the leaders of Dien Bien Department of Health assessed that the epidemic has been well controlled; propaganda and disease prevention work has been well implemented, and disease prevention awareness of people in the epidemic area has been significantly raised.

Comrade Nguyen Tien Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Ke Commune, also said: With the proactive and active participation of the health sector and the responsible participation of commune and village officials, the dysentery epidemic in Nam Ke is currently well controlled; the number of cases has decreased sharply. At the isolation and treatment area of Nam Ke Secondary School, no new cases have been recorded for 3 days.

On October 29, comrade Pham Giang Nam, Provincial Party Committee member, Director of Dien Bien Department of Health, inspected medical work at Na Sang Medical Center, Muong Lay ward.
At the two units, comrade Pham Giang Nam especially emphasized the requirement to proactively and strictly implement measures to prevent and control dysentery and other autumn-winter diseases.
As for Muong Lay Medical Center, comrade Pham Giang Nam requested to strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure food safety, ensure medical work and be ready for emergency care to best serve the Flood Season Festival held at the end of October.
