Most recently, he appeared in an important role, Thac in Detective Kien: Headless Case (directed by Victor Vu). “I don’t think that’s a turning point in my acting career. Maybe it’s because my parents gave me the opportunity to work with famous directors. That’s enough to make me happy,” the actor born in 1998 confided.
Talking about his latest role in Detective Kien: Headless Case, Quoc Anh could not hide his excitement. Because, a few years ago when he participated in the casting (audition) for the project Guardian Angel, also directed by Victor Vu, he was rejected. He said that at that time, because he was so nervous, he could not show his best.
This time, he experienced many different emotions: still shaking when auditioning, a little disappointed, and then bursting into tears because he was chosen by the director he admired. Thanks to careful preparation, learning how to walk and each line with his co-stars, when he went to the set, Quoc Anh was confident and did not encounter too many difficulties. He also transformed quite well into the role.
This is Quoc Anh of the present, after having had the opportunity to participate in a number of film and television projects and accumulating certain experiences. Recalling his first film role in Trang Quynh (directed by Duc Thinh) 6 years ago, he still remembers the feeling of “being so scared that I couldn’t even do 3 lines of dialogue”.
He confided: “At that time, I was still too immature and didn’t know how to act. But now I am more confident, whether it is a historical, modern, or horror genre, if the character is suitable and I like it, I will research deeply enough to be able to play the role.” Looking back on a journey that is not too long but not too short, he feels happy. Especially, when interacting with fans, when the audience calls out the character’s name, sometimes he bursts into tears because of emotion. “I think everyone has seen my efforts and changes after a while,” Quoc Anh confided.
Being recognized is a happy thing, but Quoc Anh admits that he is currently just a "one-pointed star" and still has to work hard and learn a lot to improve. Quoc Anh confided that after 2 projects released this year, he hopes to have the opportunity to portray roles that are "seemingly different but not really" and not just limited to family topics.
Talking about the criteria for choosing projects, Quoc Anh shared: “It is difficult to play roles that are not yourself. I think, for actors, if they only play safe roles, at some point they will start to get bored. Personally, I really like action and horror roles but have not had the opportunity to try them.” When asked if having an advantage in appearance is sometimes a disadvantage, Quoc Anh said that to transform into a role, the important thing is whether you want to be beautiful or ugly. He clearly remembers the words of director Victor Vu: “If anyone can do it, you can do it.”
