Why is Vietnam increasingly attracting Korean stars?
Over the years, Vietnam has always been the market with the largest number of K-pop fans in Asia. The "hit" songs of K-pop idol groups are all passionately loved in Vietnam. Talking to PV Dan Viet , Ms. Dang Thieu Ngan - Foreign Affairs Director of Naver Vietnam, who brought a series of K-pop idols to Vietnam, once affirmed: "Almost every group when it first appears, the management companies will target Vietnamese audiences to measure the popularity of their "chickens". K-pop fans in Vietnam have often led the cheering charts, "plowing" enthusiastic views, helping K-pop idols to have more confidence and enthusiasm".
However, Vietnam is considered a difficult market for Korean stars because fans do not have the habit of spending money to buy tickets. In recent years, with the emergence of Generation Z, many changes are taking place in the market, typically albums, photo books, and other products related to idols are regularly consumed by Vietnamese fans. This has caused entertainment companies in Vietnam and Korea to sit together, creating many contracts to bring Korean stars to perform in Vietnam.

Since the beginning of 2023, a series of K-pop stars such as TAEYANG, BoA, aespa, Hyoyeon have had two concerts on June 17-18 in Hoi An (Da Nang). Previously, Super Junior also returned to Vietnam and held World Tour Super Show 9 in Ho Chi Minh City. Most recently, Blackpink - the most influential K-pop girl group at the moment, also successfully held two concerts as part of the "Born Pink" tour in Vietnam at the end of July.
Sharing with Dan Viet, Mr. Bonor Seen (Director of Born Pink project in Hanoi, representative of iME Entertainment Group) said that his company received extremely positive guidance and support from the leaders of Hanoi People's Committee and relevant agencies during the event organization process. Thanks to that, Blackpink's concert took place safely and effectively, ensuring absolute security and order, leaving a strong impression in the hearts of fans. This also opens up further hopes for concerts and events with the appearance of Korean stars.
The arrival of many Korean idols in Vietnam will enrich the Vietnamese music market, create a healthy competitive environment, and promote the development of the domestic entertainment industry. These events also open up many expectations for promoting economic and tourism development.
However, in the future, when Korean stars arrive more massively and strongly, there will be many issues that need to be carefully considered and calculated, such as preserving Vietnamese culture, "exporting" artists instead of just focusing on "importing"...
