In October, when looking back at photos from her youth, People's Artist Ngoc Giau suddenly stopped and saw herself from more than half a century ago: a young actress with bright eyes, a smooth voice and a burning passion for reformed opera.

In 1960, she won the Thanh Tam Award Gold Medal - the most prestigious award for promising young artists at that time.

With simple dialogue and eyes full of love, she moved the entire audience to silence. That role, as she herself said, "is a debt of gratitude to Vietnamese mothers who have devoted their lives to their children and the Fatherland."
