The working delegation was led by Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh - Deputy Director of the Institute of Tropical Disease Training and Research, Central Tropical Hospital.

At the working session, the delegation heard a report on the hospital's capacity to diagnose, treat and prevent infectious diseases, and conducted a field survey at the Infectious Diseases, Intensive Care and Testing Center departments.
Currently, some common infectious diseases treated at Provincial General Hospital No. 2 include: Sepsis; bacterial gastroenteritis; other intestinal infections; respiratory tuberculosis; other viral diseases; viral fever due to blood transfusion and dengue fever; viral hepatitis.


Provincial General Hospital No. 2 is currently lacking some markers. Diagnosis of the cause of prolonged fever, diagnostic tests for the group of causes of meningitis RT-PCR and parasitic testing, causing difficulties and limitations in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
Lao Cai General Hospital No. 2 has proposed to participate in training courses and technical packages planned to be deployed by the Central Tropical Hospital, such as: application of molecular biology techniques in diagnosing infectious diseases; techniques for detecting antigens and antibodies; techniques for diagnosing and treating respiratory failure and oxygen therapy.
The survey and assessment of the capacity to diagnose, treat and prevent infectious diseases is part of the professional cooperation framework between the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the Provincial General Hospital No. 2, contributing to improving the quality of treatment, prevention and control of infectious diseases in the locality.
