Major General Tran Van Hau, Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 1, led the delegation.

The delegation included leaders of departments and branches of Hung Yen, Hai Phong (New Hai Phong City), Ninh Binh, Nghe An provinces; representatives of a number of agencies, units and accompanying enterprises. Ship CSB 8004, Squadron 111, Squadron 11, Coast Guard Region 1 served the delegation.

Delegation of Coast Guard Region 1 Command visited and worked at Hon Me Island.

Visiting and working at Hon Me Island (Thanh Hoa), the delegation presented gifts to the units stationed on the island. Comrade Bui Mai Hoa, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee shared: “This is the first time I have come to the island and learned that the island has a particularly important strategic position, so officers and soldiers must strictly carry out their tasks, regularly train and practice in harsh conditions to firmly protect the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Hopefully, the gifts, although not large, but the sentiments of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee will be one of the meaningful sources of spiritual encouragement for officers and soldiers of the heroic Hon Me Island to continue to overcome difficulties and successfully complete their tasks”.

In the two island districts of Bach Long Vi (Hai Phong) and Co To ( Quang Ninh ), the delegation visited, paid tribute to, and offered incense at martyrs' cemeteries and Uncle Ho's monument on Co To island; presented more than 200 gifts to military and civil agencies, disadvantaged households, and students who have overcome difficulties to excel in their studies. At the same time, the delegation organized direct legal propaganda, presented gifts and national flags to fishermen working in the sea areas of the two island districts.

Bach Long Vi and Co To islands have a strategic position in terms of national defense, security and marine economic development in the Gulf of Tonkin. Over the years, the Party committees, authorities, armed forces and people of the two island districts have always been united and implemented well the motto of combining economic development with strengthening and maintaining national defense and security. The works and projects built on the islands have brought about practical socio-economic efficiency, closely linked to the tasks of national defense and security, and building a strong outpost island.

Working group to propagate and disseminate laws to fishermen.

During the working trip, the delegation held a memorial ceremony for the officers and staff of CASA-212 flight number 8983 who heroically sacrificed their lives while on duty in the Gulf of Tonkin and the fishermen who died while working and living in the Bach Long Vi sea area.

The delegation respectfully released flowers to commemorate the souls of martyrs and fishermen who died in the Gulf of Tonkin.  

Evaluating the results of the working trip, Major General Tran Van Hau acknowledged the positive spirit of the delegates, the sharing and companionship of agencies, units and enterprises and highly appreciated the efforts of the CSB 8004 Ship to make the working trip a great success, completing the contents and plans set out, ensuring absolute safety. The results of the working trip contributed to building and strengthening the close relationship and solidarity between the Vietnam Coast Guard in general, the Coast Guard Region 1 Command in particular, with the Party Committees, authorities and people of coastal localities.

Major General Tran Van Hau said: From 2025, the Commands of Coast Guard Regions will coordinate with provinces and cities to deploy working delegations including leaders and armed forces of localities to survey and grasp the situation in coastal seas and islands. This is the second survey trip to the Gulf of Tonkin organized by the Command of Coast Guard Region 1 this year. The activity has practical significance in strengthening coordination between Coast Guard Region 1 and localities in implementing mass mobilization work; directly spreading the sentiment and responsibility for building and firmly protecting the seas and islands of the Fatherland to local cadres and accompanying businesses.

During the working trip, Major General Tran Van Hau, Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 1, directly disseminated and updated the functions and tasks of the Vietnam Coast Guard to the delegates.

The total number of gifts that the delegation gave to encourage the armed forces of the islands and the people of the islands and fishermen of the provinces amounted to more than 300 million VND. Through the field activities of the delegation, the close bond between the officers and soldiers of Coast Guard Region 1 in particular and the Vietnam Coast Guard in general was affirmed with the people and fishermen living and working in the sea, sovereign islands and territorial waters assigned to manage and perform their duties. Based on the results of the survey and assessment in the field of localities, accompanying units and enterprises have a plan to advise superiors on combating IUU fishing in the coming time, effectively implementing mass mobilization work and directions for participating in building and protecting the sea and islands of the Fatherland to become increasingly stronger.
