Shocking discovery on ChatGPT leaves users stunned

According to The Telegraph , more than 500 private chats with ChatGPT were found to appear in Google search results, raising concerns about privacy and data security.

These chats include sensitive content such as internal discussions, fraudulent behavior, cyber attack plans, and even questions from doctors and lawyers.

The incident was discovered by online researcher Henk van Ess, who said there could be as many as 110,000 other conversations still stored on the Wayback Machine - the Internet Archive's web archiving tool.

These conversations were originally shared via the "share chat" feature as public URL links.

However, OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, left these links indexed on Google and other search engines, causing users to unwittingly share personal information.

This week, OpenAI disabled its ability to index shared content and is working to remove content that has already been crawled by Google.

“This sharing feature created too much risk for users to accidentally make private content public,” admitted Dane Stucky, OpenAI’s Chief Information Security Officer. “We are removing this option entirely.”

Some of the leaked chats also show students abusing ChatGPT to cheat on papers, while others reveal personal identities or sensitive documents.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also admitted that ChatGPT does not have the same security mechanism as lawyers, doctors or consultants, even though many people are using chatbots as a "confidant".

According to Cybernews , some Reddit users shared that they saw chats containing full names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, and detailed work histories.

"I saw someone creating a resume, complete with name, phone number, email, address, and work history," wrote one Redditor.

In addition, a series of conversations containing private thoughts, personal stories, children's names, photos, home addresses, and even users' voices were also leaked, shocking many people.
