As Vietnam's industrial sector is under increasing pressure to transition to a greener future, many businesses have begun to look for ways to reduce emissions, optimize raw materials, and move towards the Net Zero target.
Proactively produce recycled materials
In this shift, Eco Polymers Company Limited located in Ho Nai Industrial Park (Ho Nai Ward, Dong Nai Province) is considered one of the pioneering enterprises choosing a different direction: partial autonomy in the production process, reusing recycled materials.

Mr. Duong Quang Tien, Director of Business and Market Development of Eco Polymers, said that green conversion is not only a trend but also a mandatory requirement for businesses.
According to Mr. Tien, some partners in the field of sports shoe production and consumer goods are setting increasingly strict environmental standards. Major shoe brands all require materials of biological origin or from recycled plastic that meets GRS (Global Recycled Standard).
“In order to participate deeply in the global supply chain, Eco Polymers cannot continue to follow the traditional production model. We choose the direction of material recycling as an innovative technological approach, which is the core to help reduce emissions, optimize resources and increase product value,” said Mr. Tien.
Currently, the company simultaneously masters the stages of formula research, raw material synthesis, mold design and automated production. This helps the enterprise maintain the stable quality of recycled materials, a factor that is often considered an obstacle in competition, especially in difficult markets such as the US and Europe.

According to experts, the sports shoe industry in Vietnam consumes a large amount of polymer and foam every year, but most of it still has to be imported. However, transporting raw materials thousands of kilometers significantly increases logistics costs, while businesses are not proactive in their supply sources.
“In terms of emissions, imported raw materials can account for 30-40% of emissions in the production chain. If domestic enterprises can produce a part of the raw materials themselves, the benefits are not only economic but also in the national emission reduction target,” Mr. Tien shared.
“New technology” - the platform towards Net Zero
To realize the Net Zero goal, the unit has applied many core technologies at the same time. Bio-materials from castor oil help reduce 30-40% of the material's carbon content. Technology of grinding, screening and recycling waste into new raw materials according to GRS standards. At the same time, optimizing foam reaction and chemical simulation helps reduce 12-18% of electricity consumption, improving product quality.

“This rare integrated chemical - shoe - CNC mechanical model in Vietnam helps us shorten production time by 60-70%, reduce machinery investment costs by 40-50% and optimize the production line according to the characteristics of each product,” Mr. Tien shared.
According to the Director of Sales and Market Development of Eco Polymers, the company's development orientation is based on three pillars: science and technology as the foundation, green production with biological and recycled materials, energy saving and data meeting international standards.
Real-time monitoring of electricity and raw materials usage, along with indicators to measure greenhouse gas reduction, meets data transparency requirements in ESG standards.

Thanks to its research and development capacity, technological autonomy, mechanical and mold design, and production data digitization, Eco Polymers has become one of the pioneering enterprises in green transformation in Vietnam.
According to Ms. Trinh Thi Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai, the Department always focuses on promoting the application of digital technology, digital transformation and product traceability in enterprises. These solutions are linked to criteria to build a transparent, green and sustainable production - consumption value chain.
As an advisory body on science, technology and innovation, the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai considers this a concrete step to realize the development orientation of green economy, circular economy and knowledge economy that Dong Nai province is persistently pursuing.
