Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son inspects Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plant Project

On the afternoon of November 20, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and a Government delegation inspected the progress of the Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant Project (Dong Nai province).

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his joy and appreciated the sense of responsibility of the investor and the units, engineers and workers who have made efforts to put two key national power projects into operation and ensure progress.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized: Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants are two important power projects ensuring national energy security. The Deputy Prime Minister requested Dong Nai province to soon complete the handover of the remaining site so that the project can start construction of the power poles of the 220kV transmission line project to relieve the capacity of the two plants. Contractors will coordinate with the investor to transfer technology so that PV Power can operate the plant cluster autonomously to ensure safety and on schedule by December 2025.

Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant Project is invested by Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation (PV Power); total investment is 1.4 billion USD, capacity is 1,624 MW; when put into operation, the project is expected to contribute 9 billion kWh of electricity per year to the national grid.

According to the Project Management Board, up to now, the overall progress of Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plant Project has reached 99.15%, the trial run progress has reached 83.51%, the total test power output of the two plants has reached 972 million kWh. Of which, Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant has completed all testing, acceptance and is ready for commercial operation.

Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant is basically qualified to put into commercial operation in December 2025.
