These are valedictorians with excellent academic and training achievements, proactively approaching and adapting well to new conditions and circumstances, asserting themselves, spreading the spirit of positive learning and training, affirming the generation of students of the City as brave, dynamic, integrated, and an important human resource to introduce to participate in the Project on supporting and developing young talents and future leaders of the City in the period 2020 - 2035.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, praised the achievements of the valedictorians, emphasizing the hope that today's young generation will continue to become a pioneering force, an elite team participating in implementing socio-economic development goals, especially in the fields of science, technology and digital transformation.
Ho Chi Minh City after the merger has increased in size, quantity and quality of students with more than 700,000 high school students, more than 650,000 university, academy and college students. This is an advantage for the City in terms of abundant and quality human resources, meeting the development needs in the coming period, especially when the City identifies science - technology , innovation and high-quality human resources as key driving forces, strategic breakthroughs in development.
“The city will continue to improve and implement mechanisms and policies to further develop the education and training sector. Especially policies to encourage and recruit excellent students, policies to treat experts, scientists and people with special talents, creating an environment for young talents to confidently contribute long-term”, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong hopes that each young person will know how to turn knowledge into practical power, be proactive in creativity, constantly learn, turn ideas into specific products and turn the desire to start a business into feasible projects, contributing to building an increasingly developed City.
Highly appreciating the honoring ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested that the City Youth Union and the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City continue to innovate and improve the quality of the "3 Good Students" and "5 Good Students" movements, creating the best environment for students to realize their ideas and initiatives.
Not hiding his joy when being honored as the Valedictorian of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Duong Nhat Nam said that it was the effort of the teachers to train him, and the vivid practical lessons during the months of COVID-19 outbreak. It was also the spirit of the young generation who volunteered to contribute their medical knowledge to help the City overcome the epidemic...
“What I have been aiming for is not fame but the image of a dedicated doctor, making patients feel secure during treatment,” Nhat Nam shared.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Student Association, this year, 40 valedictorians admitted to universities, academies, and colleges all achieved admission scores of 26 points or higher (25 points or higher for college students). Notably, there are 2 valedictorians who achieved a perfect score of 30 points (excluding priority points). Many of them have achieved high results in excellent student exams, subject Olympic exams at all levels, and are exemplary students, "3 Good Students" of the school and the city.
Similarly, among the 48 valedictorians graduating, there are 40 bachelors graduating with honors, 27 valedictorians who are Youth Union - Association officials from the level of Branch Secretary, Branch President or higher, some of them are Standing Committee of the Youth Union - Association Hall; 33 bachelors have won the "5 Good Students" award at all levels or the January Star award. Many valedictorians participated in scientific research activities and won many awards in scientific research at all levels. Notably, there are 3 valedictorians who achieved the absolute graduation score of 4.0/4.0.
