Specifically, at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, when the US had not yet increased taxes, many enterprises in Dong Nai signed orders with US partners until the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. At the time of signing the orders, enterprises only calculated a tax rate of 10-15%, so the product price was low, but now that the tax has increased, they have to renegotiate contracts with partners.
However, according to many businesses, there are partners who sympathize and share the risk by accepting to increase product prices, while partners who do not agree to increase product prices have to suffer losses. In addition, aluminum and steel businesses have begun to face difficulties in finding new orders in the US since March 2025. With the new tax rate, exporting aluminum and steel to the US is even more difficult, especially for businesses with large market shares in this market.
In Dong Nai, aluminum and steel exports reached nearly 100 million USD/month, of which the US market accounts for 30-40%, so it will be significantly affected. Since March 2025, businesses have sought new export markets such as Europe, Japan, and South Korea to compensate, but in a short time, it is very difficult for businesses to find customers in new markets. In addition, each country and territory will have its own technical barriers for imported goods and export businesses must meet them.
According to economic experts, to cope with the high export tax on aluminum and steel to the US market, businesses need to be flexible and contact trade counselors in other countries to find information about the market. From there, they can plan to introduce aluminum and steel products to markets that are in need to find new customers. At the same time, businesses also need to change their short-term and long-term production plans to meet the requirements of new markets.
