The workshop aims to objectively and comprehensively assess the current status of publishing theoretical and political books in conjunction with the 5-year review of the implementation of Directive No. 44-CT/TW, dated April 16, 2020 of the Secretariat on innovation, improving the quality and effectiveness of publishing, distributing, researching and studying theoretical and political books; clarifying achievements, limitations, causes and lessons learned; on that basis, proposing solutions to innovate, improve the quality and effectiveness of publishing, distributing, researching and studying theoretical and political books in the context of digital transformation, meeting the requirements of national development in the new era, the era of national development.
The workshop was also an opportunity to clarify the great contributions of the Truth National Political Publishing House - the theoretical and political publishing agency of the Central Party during 80 years of construction and development, always maintaining its leading role in publishing theoretical and political books; propagating and protecting the Party's ideological foundation, spreading theoretical and political knowledge throughout society.
In his opening speech at the Workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director - Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, Truth, said that after 5 years of implementing the Directive, the work of publishing, distributing, researching and studying theoretical and political books has had many positive and clear changes. The awareness of Party committees, Party organizations, agencies and units about the role and significance of theoretical and political books has been raised; the National Political Publishing House, Truth, has proactively innovated its thinking and methods of operation; improved the quality of editing, publishing, distributing and promoted the propaganda of political, theoretical, social and legal publications to improve the level and political awareness of cadres, Party members and people.
The quality of theoretical and political books continues to be improved. Many important books and series serving the work of Party building, propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws are published in a timely manner, ensuring high political, scientific and practical values.
Publishing has made a strong shift from traditional to modern, combining multiple channels and platforms. The publishing system of publishers has been expanded, especially publishing theoretical and political books on e-commerce platforms and social networks. The application of information technology, development of digital products, and publishing of multimedia books have opened up new approaches, in line with the trend of the times, contributing to spreading theoretical and political knowledge to a large number of readers, especially the youth.
However, the work of publishing, distributing, researching and studying theoretical and political books still has certain limitations such as: Some publications are slow to innovate in approach, not really attractive and suitable for each reader. There are not often many high-quality theoretical and political books with great impact and influence on society. The work of publishing theoretical and political books in general still faces difficulties in the face of competition in the commercial publishing market, especially in cyberspace...
In the coming time, there needs to be comprehensive and synchronous innovation solutions from content, publishing methods to distribution models and learning organization forms, suitable to the requirements of the digital age and the national digital transformation; at the same time, suggesting some key contents for exchange and discussion at the Workshop.
Providing a number of major orientations and key solutions in the coming time, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Phan Xuan Thuy emphasized the need to continue to thoroughly grasp and synchronously and effectively implement Directive No. 44-CT/TW, considering this as a guideline and consistent guiding foundation for all activities of publishing, distributing, researching and studying theoretical and political books in the new situation.
In addition, focus on training, fostering, and building a team of cadres working in publishing, distributing, and propagating theoretical and political books with enough "virtue - strength - talent" to meet the requirements of the new period; strengthen the connection and close coordination between publishing and distributing agencies with academies, political schools, research institutes, propaganda agencies, press, media, and socio-political organizations, in order to promote the combined strength in propaganda, dissemination, research, and study of theoretical and political books.
On that basis, at the Workshop, delegates presented papers, focusing on in-depth analysis of theoretical and practical issues of publishing, distributing, researching and studying theoretical and political books in the new context, clarifying the role of theoretical and political books in the Party's revolutionary cause; publishing theoretical and political books to serve the fight against corruption, waste and negativity in Vietnam; analyzing opportunities and challenges for publishing theoretical and political books, development trends of publishing activities in the new period; at the same time delving into the practice of publishing theoretical and political books...
