This unfavorable weather factor greatly affected the training process of the football team of Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education, the team participating in the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament for the first time.

To best prepare the team in terms of force, technique and physical strength, right after Thanh Nien Newspaper launched the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup, the team's coaching board widely announced to the school's classes and courses to publicly recruit players.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, the football players of Da Nang University of Sports still went out to practice.

Not only that, the school also organizes internal tournaments to select more potential strikers from the first year students and complete the team.

"Since the internal tournament held at the end of 2023, the team has had outstanding faces, promising to shine in the 2024 season. Currently, the players are intensifying their training, ready for the opening match of the qualifying round in Thua Thien - Hue province on February 28," Mr. Vo Van Quyet, Head of the school's football department, informed.

Danang University of Physical Education and Sports organized an internal tournament to recruit soldiers.

According to the schedule of Group B (Central region), the qualifying round will start on the afternoon of February 28 with a match between the team of Da Nang University of Sports and the team of University of Technical Education, an experienced team participating for the second time.

Coach Nguyen Huu Thinh said that during the training period to prepare for the season, the cold and rainy weather greatly affected the health of the players of Da Nang University of Sports.

"To arrange classwork and have time to practice on the field, the coaching staff decided to let the whole team practice at a fixed time, about 4-5 sessions/week," coach Thinh informed.

According to the coaching board of the Danang University of Sports and Physical Education, the majority of the players called up to the team this time are first and second year students, so they have strengths in individual techniques but lack competition experience as well as team cohesion to deploy tactics.

Present at the SHB Da Nang Youth Football Training Center field (Lien Chieu District) on an afternoon in late 2023, Thanh Nien reporters watched the "unequal" encounter between the student football team of the University of Physical Education and Sports and the SHB Da Nang U.19 team.

Against a professional team like U.19 SHB Da Nang, this is a match with the spirit of helping the players of the Da Nang University of Sports improve their techniques.

Under the heavy rain, the student football team of the University of Physical Education and Sports and the U.19 SHB Da Nang team had a fierce match on the field of the SHB Da Nang Youth Football Training Center.

Coach Nguyen Huu Thinh shared that the school proactively organized friendly matches with the U.19 SHB Da Nang team and many other professional teams for a reason. "This is an opportunity for the players to compete and help the team find their shortcomings to correct. The main goal is to improve quickly and be ready to participate in the qualifying round. I have for myself effective faces and strikers to play in the qualifying round and the ability to shine to help the team go further this season," Coach Nguyen Huu Thinh revealed.

According to coach Nguyen Huu Thinh, although this is only the first time the school's football team has participated in the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament, the immediate goal that the whole team is aiming for is to reach the... final round.

"But to get to the final round, professional preparation is extremely important. I think right now we need to play well in the qualifying round to gain the spirit to go further into the round... In the past few days, my students and I have been practicing very hard," said coach Nguyen Huu Thinh.

Excitedly entering the friendly match with the U.19 SHB Da Nang team, player Thanh Van Thanh said that the players have been training hard to enter the national tournament organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper, to have a really good season, with no regrets.

According to Thanh Van Thanh, after the players return to their hometowns for Tet, they will return to Da Nang City and enter the season, so there will not be much time to practice together.

Friendly matches with professional, "superior" teams help the University of Physical Education and Sports team see their shortcomings and fix them immediately.

"During this time, despite the cold rain, the whole team still practiced regularly with the most urgent and effective spirit. Facing strong opponents and rubbing shoulders with famous players from the clubs helped us players see many problems that the team as well as each individual need to develop or overcome right now. In particular, the coaches in the coaching staff pay great attention to physical strength, playing football to avoid collisions to minimize injuries, and implementing the outlined tactics to go deep into the next round," Thanh Van Thanh shared.
