Vietnam futsal team has perfect preparation for World Cup dream

The Vietnamese futsal team had an impressive journey in the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship qualifiers, taking place in Mongolia from October 7. Coach Diego Giustozzi's team won two big victories against the host team Mongolia (6-0) and Nepal (5-0). In the decisive match to determine the first and second place in Group D, Vo Minh Tri and his teammates continued to win convincingly with a score of 5-2 against the tough team Korea. Thus, the Vietnamese futsal team won a ticket to the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship (in Thailand) as the first team in Group D.

Continuing to participate convincingly in the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship is considered the perfect stepping stone towards the goal of reaching the 2024 Futsal World Cup. The effort to win a ticket to the 2024 Futsal World Cup is considered an important task for the team led by coach Diego Giustozzi. If this is achieved, the Vietnamese futsal team will once again reach the World Cup dream, with the third consecutive appearance in the world's biggest tournament (the first two times in 2016 and 2021).

Vietnam futsal team won ticket to Asian futsal finals with first place in group D

In particular, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has always paid attention and continued to invest in the Vietnam futsal team, in order to best prepare for the Asian tournament and then aim for the World Cup. After successfully recruiting the World Cup-winning coach with the Argentine futsal team - Mr. Diego Giustozzi, the VFF has planned for the Vietnam futsal team to have many truly useful training trips.

Since January 2023, the team has been gathering and training to review the force and prepare for the tournaments. In particular, the Vietnamese futsal team has been given the opportunity to train for a long time in South America, where there are very strong futsal teams (from May 8 to June 14). This is an important training session for the Vietnamese futsal team to have the best preparation, aiming to conquer the qualifying round of the 2024 Asian futsal tournament in Mongolia.

Vo Minh Tri (8) is one of the mainstays of the Vietnamese futsal team at the moment.

In South America, the Vietnamese futsal team trained and played 3 friendly matches with the Paraguayan futsal team in Paraguay from June 1 to June 8 (the scores of the matches were 2-3, 4-4 and 0-3 respectively). After that, coach Giustozzi's team moved to Argentina to train and play 2 friendly matches with the country's futsal team, from June 9 to June 15 (losing 1-4 and 0-3). This was an important training session, helping the Vietnamese futsal team gain experience when facing the world's top teams.

Before moving to Mongolia to play the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship qualifiers, the Vietnamese futsal team gathered from September 4 to October 12. The Vietnamese futsal team also played friendly matches with two strong teams in Europe. The Vietnamese team met Hungary (ranked 28th in the world) on September 15 and September 17 (the scores of the matches were 1-1 and 1-4); and played a match with the Russian team (ranked 4th in the world) on September 19 (draw 3-3).

Qualifying in Mongolia is just the beginning. The Vietnamese futsal team needs to make every effort at the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship to continue to reach the World Cup.
