On the final day of the 19th ASIAD (October 8), the Vietnamese sports delegation only had a karate team competing. Three martial artists Le Hong Phuc, Giang Viet Anh and Pham Minh Duc competed in the men's team kata event.

The Vietnamese kata team competed for the bronze medal against the Kuwait team. The athletes' performance only achieved 40.70 points, while their opponents achieved 42.30 points. This result was not enough for the Vietnamese team to win the bronze medal.

The Vietnamese sports delegation officially closed the 19th ASIAD with 3 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 19 bronze medals. The delegation achieved the set target of winning from 2 to 5 gold medals.

Three gold medals went to the 10-meter air pistol shooting team (Pham Quang Huy), the 4-person women's sepak takraw team (Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi Yen, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, Nguyen Thi My) and the women's team kata team (Nguyen Thi Phuong, Luu Thi Thu Uyen, Nguyen Ngoc Tram).

According to the medal rankings as of 7am this morning, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation ranked 21st. This ranking may change when some of the following sports delegations win more medals on the final day of competition. In the region alone, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation ranked behind Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.

The team's performance has declined compared to 5 years ago. At that time, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation ranked 16th with 4 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 18 bronze medals.

The Vietnamese sports delegation attending the 19th ASIAD (Hangzhou, China) has 504 members, including 337 athletes. The delegation competes in 31 sports and sub-sports, with 202 events.
