Masaaki Noiri, 31, a Japanese fighter, was ecstatic after delivering a knockout blow to Tawanchai PK.Saenchai at the event on March 23.
According to ONE's website, Masaaki won the interim Featherweight Kickboxing championship at ONE. Before the fight, experts predicted Masaaki had no chance against Tawanchai. But the Japanese fighter believed he would knock out his opponent. And the final result unfolded exactly as he predicted.
The fight ended in the third round when Masaaki unleashed a series of powerful blows, leaving his opponent unable to resist.
The referee immediately intervened and stopped the fight, awarding Masaaki a TKO victory. He received a $50,000 prize and became the interim ONE Kickboxing Featherweight champion.
Masaaki shared after the fight: " I honestly didn't think I would knock out Tawanchai in the third round. Before that, I predicted the fight would end in the fifth round. But in the third round, I had the opportunity to land the decisive blow."
Masaaki is the interim ONE Kickboxing Featherweight champion.
" I want to thank Chatri for giving me this opportunity even though I've only won one fight at ONE. Thank you to Tawanchai for creating such a great fight. Thank you to the coaching staff for helping me reach this level of performance. Finally, I would like to thank my family – who have always been there for me," Masaaki continued.
According to Japanese media, Masaaki trained in full-contact karate from a young age and won the JKJO (Japanese National Championship for Juniors) in 2007. Thanks to this, Masaaki was able to withstand Tawanchi's kicks very well, as well as possessing the strength to defeat the Thai martial arts master.
With the interim championship belt, Masaaki officially becomes the next challenger to the reigning champion – Superbon. This will be the fight to determine who truly deserves to sit on the throne of this weight class.
" Regarding the fight against Superbon, I can't say much right now. But if I have the chance, I want to continue winning by knockout. No matter who my opponent is, my goal is always to win by knockout," Masaaki declared confidently.
Superbon is known as the fighter who possesses the "heavy-duty kick".
Superbon is known for his "heavyweight kick." As of November 2024, Beyond Kickboxing ranked Superbon No. 2 in the lightweight division and No. 2 pound-for-pound in kickboxing. Superbon is one of only two fighters to have knocked out Giorgio Petrosyan, one of the greatest kickboxers in history, and one of only three to have defeated Petrosyan.
Furthermore, Superbon also boasts impressive victories against top fighters such as Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Marat Grigorian, and Jomthong Chuwattana. ONE fans are eagerly anticipating a fight between Masaaki and Superbon.
