Co Tu people hold festival to welcome the new year

On the days of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Co Tu people in K'noonh village, A Xan commune, Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province held a traditional village festival in a joyful and warm atmosphere to welcome the new year.

According to Mr. Zơrâm Cheo, Head of K'noonh village, A Xan commune, every year, in early spring, the local Co Tu people often organize a traditional festival, with the meaning of praying for a new year of favorable weather, prosperity, health and peace for every family.

K'noonh villagers dance to gongs and drums very enthusiastically.

Mr. Zoram Cheo added that in order to organize the traditional festival, recently, the village cadres mobilized funds from the clans in the village; at the same time, assigned tasks to members to join hands, especially the work of preparing offerings to the gods, along with cuisine to serve the communal party of the whole village.

The village elder prepares the space to decorate the house to welcome the community's blessings.

"This is both an opportunity to celebrate the New Year and create community cohesion. Through the rituals of worshipping the gods, we hope to preserve good values ​​andeducate our children to love our nation's culture more," Mr. Zoram Cheo shared.

At the traditional village festival space, the sound of drums and gongs echoes, village elders and Co Tu boys and girls dressed in brocade costumes, dance together creating a vibrant, joyful atmosphere in the first days of the new year.
