Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee received the Ambassador of the French Republic to Vietnam

On the morning of October 19, Comrade Pham Quang Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Olivier Brochet, Ambassador of the French Republic to Vietnam.

Also attending the reception were Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Cinema Promotion and Development Association; leaders of the Department of Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports , Department of Planning and Investment; and Office of the Provincial People's Committee.

Expressing his joy and excitement to welcome the Ambassador and his delegation during their visit and work in Ninh Binh , Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc emphasized: Over the past years, the development cooperation relationship between Ninh Binh province and the French Republic has become increasingly close, practical and achieved many important results.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: In the context of climate change affecting the strategic orientation of socio -economic development of the province, Ninh Binh has received attention, support and assistance from the Government and the French Development Agency (AFD).

Up to now, Ninh Binh has benefited from 3 projects of AFD. The first one is the Cau Hoi irrigation project, Yen Mo district, completed in 2008. In 2016, AFD sponsored the Kim Dai construction project to prevent salinity, retain fresh water and respond to the impact of rising sea levels for 6 districts and cities in the South Ninh Binh area, Ninh Binh province.

By 2022, AFD has continued to finance Ninh Binh province to implement the Phat Diem Urban Infrastructure Improvement Project, Kim Son District; the project is being implemented on schedule; expected to make an important contribution to the sustainable development of the coastal district of Kim Son.

On this occasion, Ninh Binh hopes that with the attention and authority of AFD as well as the Ambassador himself, in the coming time, Ninh Binh will continue to receive more funding for projects to improve infrastructure to respond to climate change, retain fresh water for production and daily life of coastal people to contribute to the sustainable development of Ninh Binh.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also sent greetings from the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Doan Minh Huan to the Ambassador. In the upcoming foreign affairs program in 2025, Ninh Binh will visit the French Republic to learn about and cooperate in various fields, focusing on preserving and promoting cultural heritage... The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hopes that the Ambassador will be a bridge for Ninh Binh to further promote cooperative relations with French localities; at the same time, inform French businesses and investors about the province's potential, strengths, and investment attraction policies, thereby opening up opportunities for cooperation and investment between the two sides.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality of the provincial leaders, the French Ambassador congratulated the important achievements that Ninh Binh has achieved in recent times, and expressed his deep impression of the historical value, natural landscape, and beauty of the land and people of Ninh Binh. He also expressed his impression of the cooperation achievements between France, the French Development Agency AFD and Ninh Binh.

Recalling the history of bilateral cooperation between France and Vietnam over the years, and emphasizing the results of the official visit to the French Republic by General Secretary and President To Lam in early October 2024; the two leaders agreed to announce the upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. With this decision, France became the first country in the EU to have a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam. The Ambassador emphasized that in the new context, France is ready to share and help Vietnam in general and Ninh Binh province in particular to develop together.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented the Ambassador with a typical gift of Ninh Binh, a Bo Bat ceramic vase handcrafted from Bo Bat village, Yen Thanh commune, Yen Mo district.
