The seminar aimed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Dao Duy Tung (May 20, 1924 - May 20, 2024). Attendees included: Comrade Pham Quang Nghi - former member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, and Head of the Hanoi City National Assembly Delegation; Lai Xuan Mon - member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Le Hai Binh - alternate member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine; and Professor Dr. Le Van Loi - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy.
Representing Hanoi were Comrade Nguyen Van Phong - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Nguyen Doan Toan - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department; leaders of the Dong Anh District Party Committee and People's Committee; and representatives of the family of Comrade Dao Duy Tung.

Comrade Dao Duy Tung – An outstanding son of Hanoi
In his opening remarks at the seminar, Comrade Nguyen Van Phong – Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee – stated that Comrade Dao Duy Tung was born on May 20, 1924, into a patriotic scholarly family in Co Loa commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi. The revolutionary patriotic traditions of his homeland and family fueled his burning revolutionary enthusiasm and profoundly influenced his ideological understanding.
Throughout more than half a century of revolutionary activity, Comrade has set a shining example of revolutionary ethics; rising through the ranks of grassroots mass movements, successively holding leadership positions from district and provincial levels to high-ranking Party leaders such as Politburo member and Standing Committee Secretary, Comrade has consistently maintained the qualities of a communist: diligence, frugality, integrity, and selflessness. In each position assigned, Comrade, together with other Party and State leaders, has overcome numerous difficulties and challenges.
“Comrade Dao Duy Tung’s contributions in the field of ideology and theory played a crucial role in the victories of the two resistance wars, especially in the Party’s renewal process from 1986 to the present. Comrade Dao Duy Tung dedicated his entire life to Party building, contributing significantly to research, propaganda, and education on the Party’s ideology, theory, guidelines, and viewpoints. Proud of and emulating Comrade Dao Duy Tung, the Party Committee, government, and people of Hanoi are determined to strive to build and develop the capital into a cultured, civilized, and modern city,” emphasized Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
Comrade Dao Duy Tung – A staunch communist
Having worked with Comrade Dao Duy Tung for many years, I sensed in him an honest, humble, dedicated worker who lived a simple, kind, and approachable life, readily sharing his personal thoughts with others. He was a good listener, regardless of age, relationship, or political views, as long as those opinions contained something new, insightful, and constructive.
Journalist Ha Dang – former Head of the Central Committee's Ideology and Culture Department (now the Central Propaganda Department), former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine, and Assistant to the General Secretary.
In his opening remarks at the seminar, Professor Dr. Le Van Loi – Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy – stated that Comrade Dao Duy Tung was a high-ranking Party official and leader who rose through the ranks from the grassroots. He participated in leading the Viet Minh movement in Co Loa commune and actively led the people's uprising to seize power in the locality during the August 1945 Revolution. After being admitted to the Party, he continued to participate in the revolutionary movement, closely connected with the people in his capacity as a Provincial Party Committee member of Phuc Yen province, Deputy Secretary of the Phuc Yen Provincial Party Committee, and then transferred to the Viet Bac Regional Party Committee, working at the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee...
Since being transferred to work at the Central Committee, Comrade Dao Duy Tung has dedicated most of his time to the field of ideology and theory, and has been recognized and affirmed as an outstanding theorist with many valuable works and contributions. Based on a Marxist worldview and methodology, with dynamic and creative thinking, the ability to grasp reality, and the spirit of "looking straight at the truth, assessing the truth correctly, and speaking the truth clearly," he has always closely followed practical realities, creatively applying theory to the specific circumstances and conditions of the country's renewal process; at the same time, he has continuously researched, summarized practical experiences, and developed theory, contributing to enriching the theoretical treasury of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution, especially in the early years of the Doi Moi (Renovation) period.
Amidst the smoke and fire of war, Vietnam adopted a wartime-appropriate mechanism that proved effective, with the Soviet model characterized by subsidies and bureaucracy finding fertile ground during the conflict. However, after national reunification, that mechanism was no longer suitable. From this point on, Comrade Dao Duy Tung was an early supporter of the reformers, meaning he supported the idea of national reform, and the introduction of "Contract 100" and later "Contract 10".

“The scientific conference with the theme “Comrade Dao Duy Tung - A staunch communist, an outstanding theorist of the Party”, aims to commemorate his noble revolutionary life and express gratitude for his immense contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, while also contributing to the education of revolutionary traditions and ideals for cadres, Party members and all strata of the people, especially the younger generation,” said Professor Dr. Le Van Loi.
According to the agenda, the seminar focused on several important topics, including: Comrade Dao Duy Tung's journey from a patriotic youth to a communist, dedicating himself to the revolutionary cause of the nation; Comrade Dao Duy Tung - A talented leading cadre of our Party; Comrade Dao Duy Tung - An outstanding theorist of the Party; Comrade Dao Duy Tung - A shining example of revolutionary morality; Comrade Dao Duy Tung - An outstanding son of the Party Committee and people of Hanoi.
In his closing remarks at the seminar, Comrade Lai Xuan Mon, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, stated that after thorough preparation, the Organizing Committee had received more than 40 reports and papers. Based on the compilation of these contents, it is evident that the scientific methodology and research methods applied in the study of the biographies of leaders and prominent figures were skillfully utilized. The scientists focused on in-depth analysis, interpretation, evaluation, and clarification of relevant content.
From various perspectives and with scientific explanations, several presentations focused on clarifying the impact of lineage, family, hometown, and historical context on the formation of Comrade Dao Duy Tung's personality and revolutionary aspirations. The conference further clarified his life, activities, and immense contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese nation. This was a meaningful activity commemorating the 100th anniversary of Comrade Dao Duy Tung's birth.

Following the example of Comrade Dao Duy Tung, the Party Committee and people of Hanoi are determined to strive to build the capital city into a “Cultural, civilized, and modern” city, worthy of being the political, economic, and cultural center of the whole country, with the title: Capital of conscience and human dignity, City for peace, Creative city” – Comrade Lai Xuan Mon emphasized.
