Contribute to mechanisms and policies on social housing development

On May 21, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of An Giang Province, Tran Thi Thanh Huong, chaired the discussion of group 16, regarding the draft resolution of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for social housing development.

Commenting on the draft resolution, many delegates assessed that the draft has many breakthrough and open regulations. However, the Government needs to build a mechanism to prevent loopholes, negativity, corruption, avoid taking advantage of policies that cause loss and waste of resources, and ensure the quality of social housing construction.

Deputy Chairman of the National Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs Committee Don Tuan Phong (National Assembly delegate of An Giang province) has the biggest concern about the quality of social housing. Otherwise, just a few decades later, we will have to return to dealing with the problem of degraded apartment buildings. There should be policies to encourage businesses to participate in the socialization of social housing construction: preferential policies on loan interest rates (instead of 10% as at present), tax exemptions and reductions in the commercial sector, contributing to investment in higher quality social housing.

Delegates proposed to specify more clearly the National Housing Fund, in the direction of narrowing down tasks to ensure feasibility in practice, avoiding assigning too broad tasks as in the draft.
