The Red Cross Society (RC) at all levels in Quang Ninh province has promoted its core role and "bridge" in humanitarian activities for the community, contributing to ensuring social security in the province.

Besides the Covid-19 pandemic, Typhoon Yagi is considered an unexpected and unprecedented task for Quang Ninh province as this is one of the localities most severely affected by the storm.

Throughout that time, the Red Cross Associations at all levels in Quang Ninh province have always accompanied, supported and motivated people to "overcome difficulties" after Typhoon Yagi. Through the establishment of the Steering Committee and working groups to overcome the consequences of Typhoon No. 3, the Red Cross Association has reviewed and made a list of the number and needs of assistance in the area; organized mobilization, reception and implemented activities of visiting, encouraging and providing emergency relief.

Representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society presented funds to support the family of Mr. Bui Van Huong (Nui Danh village, Tien An commune) - a family in difficult circumstances, whose house suffered heavy damage due to storm Yagi.

Up to now, Red Cross Associations at all levels in the province have coordinated to mobilize, receive and donate a total amount of over 10.7 billion VND from inside and outside the province to support more than 6,000 cases of damage caused by Typhoon Yagi. This funding source is allocated promptly, ensuring publicity, transparency, "right people, right objects" to support the repair and construction of new houses for disadvantaged households that suffered heavy damage to their houses due to Typhoon Yagi; sharing and encouraging families whose relatives died due to the typhoon;...

Along with that, to effectively participate in disaster prevention and response, Red Cross Associations at all levels in the province have always proactively developed plans according to the 4-on-the-spot motto. At the same time, they have focused on promoting propaganda and providing guidance on disaster prevention and response skills... The total value of disaster prevention and response activities since the beginning of the year has reached more than 12.7 billion VND, assisting more than 7,200 people.

Social security

To be worthy of being a humanitarian "bridge" for the community, Mr. Vu Hong Hai, Chairman of the Red Cross Association of Quang Ninh province emphasized: The Associations at all levels are present in time in difficult places and times, always standing side by side with the poor and disadvantaged in society, fulfilling the noble humanitarian mission assigned by the Party and the State. The Association's movements and campaigns continue to be maintained, with focus, key points, and depth, attracting more and more organizations, philanthropists and people from all walks of life. Thereby, providing timely and practical assistance to people in difficult circumstances, vulnerable people, and giving them more motivation to rise up in life.

With the desire to support and help more the poor and disadvantaged, since the beginning of the year, the Red Cross Associations at all levels in the province have focused on closely following the grassroots, mobilizing the cooperation of many organizations and individuals in caring for the poor, the disadvantaged, and people in difficult circumstances... through movements and campaigns. Typically, The "Humanitarian Tet" movement mobilized and presented 19,909 gifts with a total value of over 9.8 billion VND for poor households, Agent Orange victims, and people in difficult circumstances in the province; implementing the campaign "Each organization and individual is associated with a humanitarian address" with 2,500 people receiving assistance, with a total value of over 7 billion VND;...

In addition, the Red Cross Association of Quang Ninh province at all levels has successfully coordinated to implement the programs "Accompanying women in the border areas"; "Safety for poor and disadvantaged fishermen", "Nutrition for poor and disabled children", the model "Humanitarian porridge pot", "Humanitarian fund box", "Charity rice jar"... Thereby, contributing to ensuring social security in the province.

According to statistics from the beginning of the year until now, the total value of social work has reached over 23 billion VND to support nearly 38,000 people and the total value of health care activities has reached over 7 billion VND to support nearly 293,000 people.

Volunteers of the Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross Association actively participate in voluntary blood donation.

A highlight of the Red Cross Society at all levels in Quang Ninh province that cannot be ignored is voluntary blood donation. In 2024, the whole province organized and launched 103 voluntary blood donation campaigns with 28,592 participants, 23,964 people registered to donate blood and received 21,532 units of blood. The total value of voluntary blood donation activities reached nearly 3.5 billion VND (an increase of more than half a billion VND compared to 2023, an increase of 29 blood donation campaigns), exceeding 20% ​​of the amount of blood received according to the target assigned by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation...

According to information from the Red Cross Society of Quang Ninh province, the total value of humanitarian activities in 2024 will reach more than 46 billion VND (an increase of nearly 10 billion VND compared to 2023), supporting nearly 330,000 people, with a humanitarian value of 6.3 times.
