According to the Provincial People's Committee, implementing Decision No. 1367/QD-BTC dated April 16, 2025 of the Ministry of Finance on the transfer of road traffic infrastructure assets, the Ministry of Construction has handed over to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province the management of road traffic infrastructure assets of National Highways 1, 20, 51 and 56 passing through the province.
In recent times, the Ministry of Construction has paid attention to repairing and overcoming the national highways. However, the current situation is still damaged, especially National Highway 51, where the asphalt surface is sagging, the road surface is peeling, wheel tracks are rutted, potholes are formed, the paint system is blurred and ineffective... Therefore, repairing the national highways in the province, especially National Highway 51, is an urgent need to ensure traffic safety for vehicles.
Regarding funding, according to calculations by the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, the capital to repair the above national highways is nearly 1.4 trillion VND, of which, it is estimated that National Highway 1 is 141 billion VND, National Highway 20 is 317 billion VND, National Highway 51 is 842 billion VND and National Highway 56 is 65 billion VND.
The Provincial People's Committee said: Dong Nai is coordinating with localities to implement regional connectivity traffic projects such as: Cat Lai Bridge, Dong Nai 2 Bridge, Ma Da Bridge, Hieu Liem Bridge, Thanh Hoi Bridge, Xom La Bridge, Tan An Bridge, Tan Hien Bridge.
At the same time, to strengthen the connection between localities in the province and Long Thanh International Airport, Dong Nai province is also implementing connecting traffic projects such as provincial roads 769, 773, 770B.
In addition, to implement regional traffic connection projects, Dong Nai province's budget must allocate 50% of the site clearance costs for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project; 50% of the total investment for the Ring Road 3 Project - Ho Chi Minh City; and participate in the state budget for the Ring Road 4 Project - Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, the local budget is currently having difficulty allocating funds to carry out comprehensive repairs of national highways passing through the province.
Also according to the Provincial People's Committee, on August 15, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, Head of Working Group No. 5 under Decision No. 1544/QD-TTg dated July 16, 2025 of the Prime Minister, chaired a meeting with the leaders of Dong Nai province on removing difficulties and obstacles, promoting production, business, public investment, national target programs, directions and tasks in the coming time and some proposals and recommendations. In particular, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc was very interested in the proposal of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee on the proposal to support funding for comprehensive repairs of national highways passing through the province.
