Dong Nai opens its doors to welcome wave of Japanese investment

(DN) - In a series of investment promotion activities in Japan at the end of September 2025, the Dong Nai Provincial Delegation led by Mr. Pham Viet Phuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones of Dong Nai Province, concurrently in charge of the Japan Desk, had important working sessions in Hyogo - Kobe, Kansai and Aichi - Nagoya.

This is a strategic move that clearly demonstrates Dong Nai 's determination to attract high-tech, green and sustainable industries from Japan - a partner considered a leading large and reliable investor of the province.

From Kansai - Hyogo to Aichi - Nagoya: Connect to take off

Hyogo Prefecture is one of the largest industrial centers in Japan, with a GRDP of nearly 190 billion USD and multi-industry strengths: from steel, shipbuilding, chemicals, leather to aviation equipment, power turbines and railway components.

At the working session with the Hyogo prefectural government and Kobe city, Mr. Ensou Manji, Director of the Hyogo Business Development Center, said: Vietnam is currently the top destination of interest for Hyogo businesses. Currently, there are 13 Hyogo businesses investing in Dong Nai, of which 6 are in Long Duc Industrial Park (IP).

Mr. Pham Viet Phuong, Deputy Head of the Provincial Industrial Park and Economic Zone Management Board and in charge of Ban Nhat Nhat, shared: After merging with Binh Phuoc province, Dong Nai has expanded its industrial space to include 15 new industrial parks, with more than 10,000 hectares and planned 26 other industrial parks of more than 20,000 hectares, oriented to build green - smart - ecological industrial parks. The two sides agreed to coordinate in organizing a workshop on cooperation in developing green industrial parks in November 2025; consider signing a tripartite memorandum of understanding between Hyogo, Ban Nhat Nhat and Dong Nai infrastructure enterprises to support investment.

During the working session with the Kansai Economic , Trade and Industry Agency (METI - Kansai), Dong Nai province and METI - Kansai agreed to maintain a regular coordination mechanism between METI - Kansai and the Japan Desk to connect businesses of the two countries in the fields of supporting industries, environmental technology and renewable energy.

Mr. Tsuji Atsushi, Director of International Business Division, affirmed: This business trip helps deepen the relationship between Kansai and Dong Nai - a cooperative relationship that has been recognized in the achievements of more than 50 years of Vietnam - Japan relations.

The two sides agreed to organize annual trade conferences and promote Kansai enterprises' investment in Dong Nai, especially in the fields of aviation, supporting industries and green supply chains.

At Aeromart Nagoya 2025, the leading B2B event on the aviation supply chain, the Dong Nai delegation met with dozens of international manufacturers, including Airbus Helicopters Japan, to introduce the strategy for developing an aviation industrial zone in Dong Nai - expected to dedicate 100-300 hectares for component manufacturing and technical maintenance.

Working with the Aichi provincial government - Japan's largest industrial center (GRDP 334 billion USD), the two sides agreed to coordinate human resource training and call on aviation, automobile, and semiconductor businesses to invest in new industrial parks in Dong Nai.

Ms. Le Nu Thuy Duong, Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of KN Holdings, said: KN Holdings is developing the Xuan Que - Song Nhan, Tan Hiep - Bau Can, and Long Duc 3 Industrial Parks with a total scale of more than 2,000 hectares, ready to welcome Japanese investors in the fields of high technology and green industry.

Connect and take action

The meetings in Hyogo - Kansai - Aichi are not only symbolic but have become a substantial preparation step for Dong Nai to attract new generation investment.

From the government level (green policy cooperation), to promotion agencies (JETRO, METI, ANAC) and enterprises (KN Holdings, Sojitz, Long Duc), connecting layers have been formed, creating a solid foundation for cooperation ideas to quickly turn into specific projects and actual factories.

Mr. Pham Viet Phuong emphasized: “Dong Nai not only welcomes investors, but also accompanies them to turn commitments into actions. The province is ready in terms of land fund, infrastructure and clear support mechanisms."

More than just an investment promotion trip, Dong Nai’s presence in Japan this time is a clear message about its strategic vision and aspiration to reach out to the world. Dong Nai is gradually affirming its role as an industrial - logistics - innovation center of the Southeast region; at the same time, becoming a reliable destination for Japanese enterprises in the era of green industry and high-tech integration.

When trust, infrastructure and vision converge

Currently, Japan has more than 288 investment projects in Dong Nai, with a total capital of nearly 6 billion USD, holding the position of one of the largest and most reliable investors in the province. Not only focusing on the processing and manufacturing industry, Japanese enterprises also expand into trade, services, logistics and urban infrastructure, contributing to the formation of a sustainable production - consumption - export value chain, creating an important foundation for the long-term development of Dong Nai in the new period.

Mr. Masaya Ueda, Secretary General of the Japan Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City, commented: “In the ASEAN region, the Japan Business Association in Vietnam is the place with the highest rate of membership growth. That reflects the confidence of the Japanese business community in the investment environment in Vietnam. In particular, Dong Nai is a typical destination due to its convenient traffic connections, few natural disasters, and developed industrial infrastructure, creating a solid foundation for long-term cooperation."

According to Mr. Ueda, a breakthrough milestone is approaching, when Long Thanh International Airport comes into operation, the connection between Vietnam and Japan will be more convenient than ever. This will be a big boost, helping Japanese enterprises not only expand industrial production, but also invest more heavily in services, logistics and urban infrastructure in Dong Nai.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc, Japan is not only an economic partner but also a strategic companion in the province's development journey. Dong Nai is committed to preparing clean industrial land funds, synchronous logistics infrastructure associated with Long Thanh International Airport, and the "one-stop" mechanism of the Japanese Bank to provide maximum support to investors. We aim for green, high-tech industrial projects with high added value, contributing to the province's sustainable development goals.

The consensus from the leadership, the preparedness of infrastructure and the trust of the business community are creating new momentum for Vietnam - Japan cooperation in Dong Nai. Not only an investment destination, Dong Nai is becoming a strategic partner - where Vietnam and Japan develop together, create value together, towards the common goal: "Green industry - high technology - sustainable prosperity".
