The ceremony took place in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, imbued with deep gratitude to the outstanding children who fell for the independence and freedom of the nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Truong Son, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 515, was moved to commemorate and express his deep gratitude to the souls of the martyrs. He emphasized: "Although we have not been able to identify your names and hometowns, we would like to call you sons of the country and consider Dong Nai as our homeland to rest in peace, in the hearts of people and trees".

It is known that in August 2025, implementing the plan to search for and collect martyrs' remains of the Provincial Military Command, Team K72 - a specialized unit under the Military Command of Dong Nai province - conducted a survey and recovered 30 sets of remains at Loc Ninh airport and Phuoc Son commune. The few remaining relics such as a vase, a bottle of essential oil, a pair of rubber sandals, a comb or a hammock... are vivid evidence telling the tragic story of the silent sacrifice of soldiers in the past.

Since 2002, Team K72 has not been afraid of hardships, conducting thousands of searches across the country and neighboring Cambodia. As a result, 3,953 martyrs' remains have been collected, of which 3,242 sets are those of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Cambodia and 711 sets were found in the country.
It is worth noting that among the 30 sets of remains this time, 13 biological samples are eligible for DNA testing. This is the basis for the hope of identifying the martyrs, helping them “return” to their families. The work of collecting DNA samples from martyrs’ relatives nationwide is continuing according to the Government ’s project to build a national gene bank to serve the identification of remains in the near future.

Previously, on August 26, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the province coordinated with the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province to organize a grand ceremony to pray for the souls of heroic martyrs at the provincial cemetery. This is not only a spiritual ceremony, but also an opportunity for today's generations to remember, show gratitude, and engrave the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking" and "repaying gratitude" of the Vietnamese people.
The ceremony ended with a solemn burial of the martyrs' remains into the motherland. Incense sticks were lit as a farewell, as a promise that: The Fatherland will forever remember the contributions of those who have fallen so that the country can survive and develop.
