On the morning of October 23, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to the opinions of Thai An village residents (Vinh Hai commune) on the selection of a location to build a resettlement area for the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant project. Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - and leaders of departments, branches and localities attended the meeting to collect public opinions.
Proposing 2 new safe locations, favorable for development
Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Pham Minh Tan - Director of the Project Management and Construction Investment Board of Khanh Hoa province, the investor of the resettlement project of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project - said that after the survey, there were 2 locations that were evaluated as feasible to arrange a new resettlement area.
Specifically: Location 1 in My Phong village (Vinh Hai commune) has an area of about 69.24 hectares, about 6.8 km from the reactor center, outside the emergency protection zone. The total planned land plots for resettlement are 1,095 plots, each plot has an area of 150 - 230 square meters.
Location 2 in Khanh Nhon village (Vinh Hai commune) has an area of about 76.63 hectares, about 8km from the reactor center, outside the emergency protection zone. The total planned land plots for resettlement are 1,415 plots, each plot has an area of 120 - 200m².

According to the government's analysis, location 1 is more suitable because of its large total residential land area, synchronous social infrastructure and services with land allocated for education, healthcare, public works, greenery, etc. This location also has potential for economic and tourism development.
Location 2 is considered to have limited long-term expansion, and commercial service land fund is also less.
Survey more new locations for people to choose from
At the dialogue, the majority of Thai An village residents (Vinh Hai commune) wanted to be resettled in the original location. Residents said that the two proposed locations were far from the current residential area, thus affecting the residents' daily life in the future.

The initial resettlement area was previously identified as being in Thai An village with an area of about 54 hectares. However, through actual surveys and opinions from the Ministry of Science and Technology, this location is partly located within a 1km radius from the factory fence, in a "no-residential area".
Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, a resident of Thai An village, said that the majority of people agreed to support the implementation of the nuclear power project. However, the authorities need to have appropriate preferential and supportive policies for the people.
According to Mr. Bay, the people's wish is that the resettlement area must be attached to the old location, not separate from the old locality.

Listening to the opinions of people in the Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power project area, Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - said that the province will continue to propose and recommend ministries and central agencies to apply the best support policies to build the Ninh Thuan nuclear power resettlement area, in order to fully meet the infrastructure needs of the people's lives.
Mr. Hoang also hopes that people will continue to accompany the local government, creating consensus in implementing the Ninh Thuan 1 and 2 nuclear power projects.
Regarding the people's opinions, Mr. Hoang suggested that the Provincial Project Management and Construction Investment Board continue to coordinate with local authorities and people to review and survey more locations so that people have more options.
