Just one day after the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) announced the departure of Japanese coach Masatada Ishii, English strategist Anthony Hudson was officially appointed to the "hot seat". Previously, Hudson served as the Technical Director of FAT.
Speaking on his inauguration day, Coach Hudson affirmed that Thailand's World Cup dream is entirely achievable in the near future.
"I believe Thailand has the potential to qualify for the World Cup. But to make that a reality, we have to improve many aspects, from increasing international competition and developing young players to raising the quality of our domestic coaching staff," Hudson shared.
The new head coach also didn't hesitate to set specific and ambitious goals. First and foremost, he wants to lead Thailand to the 2027 Asian Cup finals and make a strong impression on the fans.
He confidently stated, "Thailand is one of the countries I admire. I want to make that a reality by leading Thailand to the Asian Cup finals and impressing all the fans with my performance."
The English strategist also emphasized that he is not afraid of the pressure of taking on the "hot seat" of the national team. He also hopes to share his passion and make the players feel proud to wear the national team jersey.
To realize their World Cup aspirations, Coach Hudson believes a comprehensive development strategy is needed, including youth development, increasing the number of quality coaches, and taking the right steps. He expressed his belief that with thorough preparation, Thailand can make significant progress.
